The Aggies are allowing 5.7 yards per carry and over 220 rushing yards a game in SEC play. Remember this tomorrow at 6 15.

Yeah they still don?t tackle well and their run fits are not good. They leave some gaping holes on the interior. That?s why that ypc is so high. We have to take advantage.

Exactly! In fact that should be the max attempts per game for rest of the year.

I thought he threw the ball well against Kentucky. If I'm not mistaken isn't A&M comparable to Kentucky statistically when it comes to pass defense against all opponents?

Whatever it takes to win the game, come on y'all. Yes we need to run the ball but to say no more than 20 passes is crazy. Mullen just has to adjust to what the Aggies give us.

Fitz passing attempts in last 3 wins

LSU - 23
BYU - 30
UK - 26

If we run our offense well, we will throw more than 20 times. Because if we control the ball we will get 70 offensive snaps. So a nice ratio for 70 snaps might be 45/25 run/pass.


Edited to add that I also throw it more than 20 times against UMass. The passing game needs work, and I would work on it some against UMass. Also, our defense should get off the field quickly against UMass resulting in more offfensive plays for us.

So the thought that we don't throw it more than 20 times in any game the rest of the season is something I don't agree with.

Well, we down a WR rest of the season and playing a gimpy one today. We better be able to run it or it’s going to be a long night.

The big stat for me is ball control. Against LSU, BYU, and UK, we had the ball for 36, 37, and 35 minutes. That means controlled passing and effective running by our offense, converting 3rd downs on offense, offensive play calling leans run heavy, and our defense is stopping the opposition and getting off the field.

A&M pass defense is 'worse' than their 'run' D. MSU offense is built on a run/pass ratio of ~3/2 and it shouldn't change for A&M.

MSU controlled the UK game .. rushed 48 times for 282 yards, 4 TDs BUT they also PASSED for 159 yards 19 of 27 (70%) and a TD.

Change of pace mixing TB runs .. passes .. run/pass options .. and add in Fitz called runs recipe for our success this year.

We had more than 20 passes to beat A&M, just like we did against LSU, BYU, and UK. If we run our offense well, we will pass 20 times or more. Because running the offense well means time of possession at 35 minutes or more. That means 70-80 plays. That many plays means 20 or more pass attempts. That 16 play drive in the first quarter was gorgeous.

Other than Alabama we should be good and I think Fitz will take a big step forward going into his senior year. Arkansas is ranked 11th in rushing defense and Ole Miss is 14th. Statistically speaking those are the two worst SEC defenses overall we will face this year when you look at total defense as well. I wouldn't be surprised if we pass pretty well against them also when we want to.
