Just me and the wife: wanting walking distance to good times, but wanting a nice place to stay. Just wanting as nice as place as possible within walking to FrenchQuarter/Bourbon St.
Thanks in advance!

Dauphine Orleans hotel. Just got back from a trip down there the weekend of 9/29. I'd highly recommend it!

The Royal Sonesta is on Bourbon St.

I would try The Ponchartrain Hotel and the Indigo Hotel on St. Charles Ave. You can take the street car to Canal St. and it lets you off right across from Bourbon St.

The Quarter is going to be busy Thanksgiving because of the Bayou Classic between Grambling and Southern. That's probably why the hotels are booked.

Yes and you do NOT want to go to Bourbon during this time!!

If you want a smaller hotel the International House is cool. The ACE is a hip hotel as well with a cool rooftop bar and one of the best restaurants in the city called Josephine Estelle. You can go to bars and restaurants in the warehouse and arts district

What price range, > or < $175? Any preference as far as a chain or independent/boutique? Keep in mind there will be an additional $45/nightly (approx) charge on top of the room rate.

The Roosevelt. The Ritz. Westin. La Pavillon. I would go with whichever one is cheapest. Beyond that, Ritz is probably closest to where you want to be, then Roosevelt, and then Westin/La Pavillon would probably be the same as far as walking goes. Westin a little more convenient to Jackson Square. Pavillon closer to bourbon.

The last three trips to NOLA we stayed at Hotel St Marie (including this past weekend when we had to evacuate early because of the hurricane). Rooms are nice, service is good and 1/2 block off Bourbon. Easy walk to our favorites.

Check out the Fairgrounds for TG day dining. Friends of mine go there ever TG. they say it's great.

be aware that a lot of stuff is closed that week and it is also the week of the Bayou Classic. A lot of folks will be in town on the weekend, it could be hard to find a room.

You should be fine as the game is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The Ace can put you in a spot where you can walk a few blocks to be to the Quarter or also more of the warehouse and arts are establishments and you don't have the crowds and noise outside of your hotel. Uber is always an option in Nola.

If you don't care about the $ the Roosevelt Hotel is a classic and they may have it decorated for Christmas at the point. Very pretty, nice bars and restaurants there.

I would try this. Last Thanksgiving we stayed at the Marriott on St. Charles and it was a little noisy. Also no on site parking, but they do have valets. It looked like the Marriott on Canal had on site but you can verify if you get reservations there.

Best advice I'd give is to not go. If you must go, I'd stay over in the CBD or near Magazine Street.

Le Pavillon is one of my favorites. Its on Poydras st. which is about a 20-30 minute walk to the quarter
