If anyone of you "just CANT bElIeVe" that they hired Orgeron, there's your answer. You heard it at the press conference, he said, "to beat Alabama you have to recruit like Alabama" which is true and false I guess. Very few schools can recruit at that level, but even still, you have to have players, and Eddie O is a good recruiter, and he will hold up that end of the bargain IN GENERAL.

However, the problem is his coaching. Dabo is a rah rah guy just like O, and rose up through the coaching ranks similarly, with no real coordinator experience before being crowned a head coaching prospect. And it also took him a long time to start winning, as he almost got fired that season before 'WV just scored again'. LSU freaked out about Saban, and saw Clemson nearly beat him twice, so they wanted to use that blueprint. They also saw Ole Miss cheat their way into 2 victories.

We won't know for 3-4 seasons if it pays off, but as long as Alleva is there, so will Orgeron (at least for the foreseeable future). The only problem is that O comes and says nimrod statements like, "in today's game you have to have a mobile quarterback". Actually, O, NO, you don't, especially at a school like LSU. Then, after he says that, he proceeds to let Keyteon Thompson go to MSU.

Bottom line, O will fail because he either has no plan to execute, or has a bad one. On paper, he's Dabo, but it won't work out that way for him long term. Dabo wouldn't have lost to Troy.

At this point they may as well get behind him and at least let him recruit for 2 years and decrease that buyout.

O is going to load LSU up with a lot of talent before they fire him. If they get the right guy when they replace them they will be bad ass.

Yep and we need to get a couple more victories over them before that happens

Recruiting isn't the problem at LSU...

It was a terrible hire, hope he stays for a few more years. Recruiting has never been a problem at LSU, it's player development that's the problem

Exactly Ari, Miles was constantly in the top ten. Yet the could still never develop a QB

This. Croom could sign top
10 classes at LSU. This was a horrible hire. Les Miles is 10x the coach that O is.

High rankings don't always equate to great players

Some people think we have more talent than LSU.

In 2017- State is putting just as many good players on the field as LSU.

Fitz and Thompson are better than their QB's
They have Guice- but our RB's are top half SEC
WR? Are Chark and Gage on anybody's draft boards? I haven't heard that they are. They have 58 career receptions between them
Deion Calhoun is a better player than Saddiq Charles right now- wouldnt you agree? How about Rankin and Jenkins vs anybody else they have?
Key and Simmons are great players. We have to hope like hell Sweat doesnt go one and done. So match him up with anyone else they have
Who do they have at LB with more talent than Leo or Gay?
Their Secondary has more talent but they are playing some young guys back there vs our vets

This is not true.

Croom may could technically sign highly rated classes (by the recruiting services), but that's not the same as a highly TALENTED class. The best coaches could do both.

LSU signed the same highly rated classes under Dinardo, but when Saban got there, the talent magically improved, but the ranking didn't. What was the issue?
