That's terrible. He was always one of my favorite coaches. Class act.

92 bama beating Shane Matthews and Florida in the 1st sec championship game was one of my favorite games. Prayers to him and his family

Sad to hear. Like stallings. The story about him and his son with Downs Syndrome was touching. Prayers for him and his family.

My first coaching clinic was at Alabama, and Gene was the keynote speaker. Got to talk to him for about 10 mins afterwards when all the other coaches were off drinking beer. Great guy who I will always respect.

Sucks... He'd be on the Mt. Rushmore of former Bammer Coaches, IMO....

At least things look better for now.

Update 7:09 pm: I am told that Coach Stallings' ventilator has been removed and a stent placed in his heart. Doctors are confident that if things continue to improve the coach could recover fully...

Hasn't he had some other medical problems fairly recently (maybe a stroke), or am I misremembering?
