Now reported to have been taken off life support. Assume he had a DNR?

This Monday has sucked. Lost a dear friend this morning too, not to mention the horror in Vegas.

Last dance for Mary Jane,

Doubt that. He's probably got one lite up right now in that big weed patch in the sky. Janis, Jimmy, Keith and a whole lost of dead rockers are probably passing one around as we speak.

there are some reports on twitter that Petty is still alive. We shouldn't get our sources from TMZ.

wow ... he couldn't have been to bad off - my wife just saw him at Red Rocks on Memorial Day this summer ...said he was jamming just like always, but declared right there that it was his last concert that night

Losing all the greats these days, meanwhile, tragedies like Las Vegas make it all the worse. It's like a loss of a legend, compounded with the fact that large concerts will never be safe again. It really encapsulates the negative reality of the world we live in, and the present and future yearning of the old times, magnified.
