Good column by Robbie Faulk..

It's all the same stuff a lot of us have been saying here but good to read it from him.

When the MSU writers are starting to come around that usually means changes are coming in the offseason.

He's right, it's all about the stars. We gotta do a better job selling our brand. That includes ridding the ship of deadweight like Hev., et al.

I posted something similar a little while ago and then read his article on 24/7. Like to think great minds think alike and I felt kind of smart.* This situation is not good in year nine of our program under Mullen. Yes, we are better historically, but we are far from even competing with the "Big Boys' of the East and especially the West! Hail State!

That's great Robbie, but how about we offer solutions as to how to get there?

We are sometimes burdened because of having to recruit the State of MS so much, and so hard. If we could grab more "star" players from outside our 250 mile recruiting radius, it would show up on the field. I hate to say it but MS hs players are falling further and further behind their contemporaries in states experiencing population explosions. This is nothing new, it's been going on for years now. MS used to have an advantage but that advantage is no more. Mississippi can't keep up the pace in producing D1 kids. We have to start pulling more of the better players from from bigger states, and that means taking prospects away from the interest of bigger programs. There is no easy solution.

It's so simple, get better players? That's like Dave Ramsey telling you how to get out of debt when you don't have a job. Sounds easy enough, but no soo much.

The other issue is that because MS is a small population state, with 2 SEC schools, our coaches continuously have to keep hitting MS hard, or the other school will steal someone when we are not paying attention. Another benefit to those schools who own the whole state.
