This guy is an absolute beast. Coming into the season I thought LB would be McKinney then everyone else. Honestly though, we've had good play out of just about every LB we are putting on the field.

Agreed. Our LB core may surprise some people this year. Matt Wells is a nice kid, but it looks like he has a fire beneath him when he is on the field. McKinney is a beast at MLB. I like how our front 7 looks.

Yep. I thought Skinner and Preston Smith were damn good too. And Chris Jones, Quay, and others. We have a kick ass front 7.

Our D-line is as talented as any in the country.

I'm still waiting for Quay to show up.

Also PJ and Kaleb need to grab some pine because Chris Jones makes their play even more conspicuous.

Yes, yes, yes.....Matt Wells is listed at 6'2" 215 lbs and runs a legit 4-3.....= freak. He could play in the NFL today.

Matt Wells plays good in coverage too, that's what is most impressive to me.

Quay plays well. Just doesn't get much PT.

They talked a little about him during the game and said he could be the fastest person on the team. I say teach him how to run the ball.

I was extremely impressed with Preston Smith getting out in space and making open field tackles. It's invaluable to have a DE that can step out and cover all the way to the sideline.

He already knows how to run the ball.

He finished his junior season with 1,357 yards rushing on 113 carries and 21 touchdowns. He caught 10 passes for 323 yards and seven more touchdowns. Defensively, the junior had four interceptions and 35 solo tackles.

Senior year: Rushed for 1, 055 yards and 10 TD's. Had 36 tackles at safety and 4 int's. Also he missed 4 games due to an injury that year.

He also went to school with Kendrick Hardy (USM RB) they both started in the backfield (Lawrence County ran a 3 back set) and they not started on Defense. They were untouchable when both healthy.

1 doesn't even remotely belong in that group

I could think of one in each position group that you could argue doesn't belong (and maybe 2 of the DBs), but we're also talking a year from now.

Good points. I don't pile on and bash the kids but there is a certain DL that has 1 TFL in his last 19 starts. His unproductivity is mind boggling. You would think he could at least have a guy trip over him on accident & get a TFL by now.

He did. 1 TFL.
