Huge game this weekend. Will probably do something on the grill Saturday night. We have Germanfest going on in my neck of the woods Sunday.

Firing up smoker...real smoker, not one I plug in. Gonna throw some large catfish filets and a leg quarter or three. Boudin and deer sausage. All the while enjoying a cold Lite beer...cannot wait!!

Not sure yet, have an away game tonight and won't be home until laaaate. Then a cross country meet in the AM. I'm dying for a BBQ grilled cheese, so I may smoke a but for Sunday, but my wife wants chili. Probably do some steaks and wine tomorrow. I drank wine last week so I'm going with the superstitious shit.

Well since my smoker crapped out last weekend, I think I may either snake a butt on the Weber or roll out the traeger. May do the butt tomm mornin for the game and do redfish and quail Sunday.

Steaks on the grill, thin slices red potatoes roasting in the oven and Woodford in the glass. Just loaded up he yak, so tomorrow’s dinner will depend on how the morning goes.

A little late tonight, but I just fired the grill for a couple of NY Strips for me and the W Girl, and pork chops for BD2. Have some pilaf and a salad with a creamy balsamic dressing. Gonna have some Bulliet for good luck tomorrow.

I was tasting my old favorite daily, Turkey 101, and had the taste for bourbon then. I have a bottle from a local shop that selected a barrel of Knob Creek. The label is a mis-print...it's not a 9 year old, it's 12. It's not a terrible whiskey...

Here's to the Maroon Dawgs!

EDIT: The shop that carries this is "The Spirit Shoppe". Corner of Bluecutt and Military Rd. Buddy of mine owns it, and they are very knowledgeable.

That's a fine bottle of whiskey JB. Brunswick, that a solid damn Friday night. I have some volunteer work in the morning so I'm having a white can and calling it a night.

Can I ask where you got the maroon Mississippi sticker?

Sorry: didn't see the same question above.

In 28 hours a plane carrying 200 worn out Soldiers will arrive in Texas after spending nine months in Iraq. My eight will be on that plane.

In other words, I am about 30 hours from my first beer since Christmas.

Hail State!

Thank you for your service, Sapper. I hope that first beer is as good as you want it to be. (I'm sure it will be)

Awesome man. Glad you're back.

We've been smoking pork chops all morning. I'll post a pic next time we pull some off

We just had a 4pm mass and everyone sampled the brats and beer after mass. Under tents and had Football on. The brats were killer and I made sure the tin roof blonde and yuengling Oktoberfest were safe. Just got home and now it's time to focus. White cans

Pulling ribs off the smoker now. 6 -1/2 hours of love. Smoked sausage and boudin for snacking. Slashed with Jack.

Deer poppers, shrimp and oysters (looker a lot better after the shredded parm & parsley was added) on the grill. Potatoes in the oven. Freckle belly IPA to help me watch this game...

Love those dishes. I can get shucked oysters year round and I don't always want to fry them

1. What's that contraption for the oysters?
2. Do you get them from crystals?

Those are actually thin aluminum crab trays for making stuffed crabs. They are $2/8pack vs $40 for the heavy duty ones made for oysters and I don't have to fool with cleaning these. I wasn't sure how well they would work, but they are perfect. They came from Claiborne Hill. The oysters are from Crystal Seas.
