OM's bell tower

If you didn't know, OM is building a bell tower next to their stadium. Maybe they like bells after all. Anyway, they got the thing up and then when inspecting it, it was brought to their attention that it was not built correctly and was unsafe. Saving money on contractors maybe? Since, you know, they are currently in the middle of having a few legal bills piling up and they do have a revenue item from a bowl game at years end that they won't be relying on for a few years.

So it had to be torn down and put back up again. Hopefully correctly this time. Just in case, I wouldn't walk under it next year if you go to the game. But shitbirds, please be sure to ring it all you want that day. We like bells.

What is the point of a bell tower? Serious question. And did they not think it might be a little strange putting up a giant ringing BELL right next to the stadium? That would be like us hanging a giant Confederate flag outside our stadium. I mean, duh?? No wonder they can't get anything right.

I'm pretty sure some donor gave the money and decided OM needed a 'Bell Tower', which is how every campus ends up with ugly bell towers all over the place.

I saw it this past weekend. I don't know about the first one but the one being constructed now actually looks like its leaning to the naked eye when approaching it from the Puh-vilion side. Right now I guess it's just the base that they have since it is surrounded by wood. At the moment, it looks more like a funeral pyre.

The project manager for the bell tower is a very close friend of mine......he was fired over the situation, and yes, there are suits involved.....during the whole process he kept telling the engineers (from out of state) that there were issues and he was told to keep his mouth shut by his employer.....he brought it up over a dozen times and when it didn't work out, he was made the scapegoat......his employer is a local loud mouth and is protecting his ass by stating it was my friends fault....its really a bad story, but has landed on his feet and back to doing high end home building, which is what he was doing in Nashville before hand, so it all worked out of him. The builder who fired him, is not doing so well.
