Dennis Dodd, a face made for radio. Sheesh!

Quoting Godfrey as a source just made this whole thing worthless.

There will be a lot of these " well everybody is doing it" articles to come out.

Didn't the NCAA ruled that since it was Newton's dad who asked for the money it was out of their control and could not hold the Student Athlete responsible? If so they are the ones who opened this Pandora box.

And then they passed a rule that made it illegal. That loophole has been taken care of by the NCAA.

There is zero way LSU offered his mom $650,000 for a 4* lb when they have guys like that by the barrel on campus already.

And every bit of what OM has put out there has been filtered through a former assistant who has a cultish attachment to Freeze. And as far as the winking beaver goes, a narcissist never thinks he or she is in trouble. Lmao.

0% chance she was offered $650K. She either didn't say that, lied, misspoke or misheard. The fact that she said that probably went to discredit what she said entirely.

That was never a loop hole. They knew that Cam was aware of the negotiations but used that as an excuse to clear him.

Yeah there's no way that can be true.

I feel like I've read amongst the boards that the NCAA has already decided that Leo's mom doesn't have any credibility. Which likely helps us, because she also claims that MSU gave Leo 80k or something like that. So we can throw both of those claims out the window, she's blowing smoke on both.

I keep reading about mom claiming different offers from schools, but do we know FOR CERTAIN that she actually said all of this, or is this more of the Fan Boys (I love that monicker) spreading crap? And when I say for certain, has the NCAA said in any of its correspondence that this actually happened? Because at the end of the day if the NCAA hasn't said this or made mention of it in any way, then it carries as much weight as Fan Boy Mcready saying "everybody does it".

I'm sure the SEC office is happy about OM throwing other members under the bus.

This. If they had been offered $650k by LSU, Leo would be at LSU.

"I made some calls to see if $650,000 was even possible in this day and age. I was told that was absolutely the case by a former college assistant who went into detail."

Wonder if his former college assistant source was Barney???

Anyone can offer $600K. I will believe That is a real offer when it is paid.

Ever since I heard about the $650k, I thought there was no way that could be accurate. But, if you break it down into monthly installments over a career, that seems much more believable.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but here's a few issues with that kind of money.

1. Assume that you pay $500k for a player that is either a 5 star or top 10 in his position and he stays 3-4 years ($125k per year). How much does the other 4 star guys get (50-75k per year?). How about the 3 stars (15-25k per year?) If so, your payroll for a top 5 to top 15 class would cost you around $1 million a year. That's a LOT of money when you have 3 or 4 of those on the roster. 3-4 million a year for the entire roster. Essentially, it averages out to $50k per year per player. How do you transfer and keep that amount of money flowing without drawing the attention of the Feds? Cash? LLCs? Foundation donations? Jobs? Housing?

2. Everyone doesn't get paid? This is where I think the argument falls apart. SA39 couldn't wait to flash his cash. 17 and 18 year olds are dumb. Even if the money goes to a family member, they aren't going to be able to keep their mouth shut. Can you imagine the locker room cancer that it would create when one guy who got 50k because he was under evaluated and another got 500k who was a flop? Is there a renogiation clause in their deals (assuming this type of money is legit)?

3. Boosters that could afford to pay these crazy amounts aren't going to be directly involved with the transaction. Now you're talking racketeering, conspiracy, and money laundering. One or two may be willing to risk it. I'm not sure that there's 25-50 of them per school who would.

4. If Tunsil would have gotten that amount of money, would he still be double dipping with the light bill and gas money?

Assuming it is true, is it more likely that it is a structured deal where they get something like $10-20k per year and a ballon payment at the end when the NCAA can't investigate?
