I will be in Gulf Shores this weekend. I'm guessing the hurricane is too far out to mess our trip up. Right or wrong? Thanks for your insight in advance.

This weekend you're fine. I'm still thinking Irma is an east coast storm, but the models are pushing it further south and west every run. Right now if it stays south it'd reach Miami by Sunday. So even if a worst case scenario happened and it got pushed into the Gulf and then towards Gulf Shores you'd be looking at a Tuesday/Wednesday time frame.
