Pope: transferred due to not having a redshirt option
Rivers: Academic Redshirt
Cole: Academic Redshirt
Champion: redshirt
Phillips: redshirt
Autry: redshirt
Landrews: redshirt

Never seen that before in all my years.

Sweat: He's a Boss
Abram: Played

What is the revised recruiting rating when this is taken into consideration?

We were all pumped about the juco recruits on signing day. Hard to be mad at Mullen now over them

We are going to get one hell of JUCO redshirt squad added to our defense in 2018

The 2018 defense could be among the best in college football. Think about the roster

Yeah we didn't lose them and they'll be a big help the next 2 years.

He only had 2 to play 2.

Why couldn't he have just stuck around and played then?

Yeah, it's interesting. We basically only signed 19 kids that qualified. Our top 3 high school signees all played today and look promising: Kylin, Key, and Gay. 2 Juco's: Sweat, Abram. And the other 14 look like redshirts. But to your question, with 19 signees you are looking at a class that would probably be ranked outside of the top 30.

He was in the same boat as Rivers and Cole. But he would have had to sit out without redshirting meaning he would have only gotten to play 1 year. So he transferred out to a lower level.

I'm surprised we'd redshirt Autry, especially now that it's certain that Rivers will. Also, I could've sworn I heard Landrews's name called.

Rivers is more of an end/outside guy. Autry is projected as a nose tackle/inside guy. Braxton Hoyette didn't play today and we still didn't play Autry. That should tell you they plan on redshirting him. Landrews didn't play.

Really? He was a Co Lin guy. Are we gonna blame Scooba on that one too, or finally acknowledge that our coaching staff may shoulder some of the blame for 3 different signees being forced to sit due to too many hours?

Redshirting Jucos is fine w/ me & I prefer it in most cases, especially OL this year since we had so many high schoolers that didn't qualify.

That being said, I think Rivers' redshirt means we only get 1 year out of him. W/o the redshirt I think he would've stayed after this year & broken out w/ a big senior year in 2018. With the redshirt I think he'll have a big RS JR year in 2018 & declare for the draft after 3 schools & a redshirt year. Hope I'm wrong, but a 2018 breakout would be good either way.

I did forget about Hoyett. But I was thinking along the lines of being able to use the extra depth inside to create mismatches with Simmons and whoever on the end.

I agree, its almost a guarantee that we will just lose a year with Rivers. Doubt very seriously he hangs around for his fifth year. But on the bright side at least we know he will be here next year to play in case Sweat jumps to the NFL after this year since they are both DEs. Its possible they both could potentially have jumped after this year.

I'm not so sure it's a bad idea to RS JUCO OL but the autry rs is puzzling. Is this 100% done deal

So how does all of this set up for 2019 season? At some point, won't the lack of getting more people in the door catch up to us?

For those taking these guys out of the class to re-rank, be sure you add them back into next years class. Funny how we only look at the half filled part of the cup.

Tre Brown could be the reason to redshirt Autry. Just a guess.
