To El Paso. But this could also have to do w his clock and not just his performance.

It's both. They have said so. He's got things he has to work on if he's going to be successful.

Wayyy too many K's. But he will be back up soon.

Other Dogs in MLB:
Adam Frazier - batting 284. platooning in LF, starting vs Righties but sitting against lefties.
Last Night: 3-4 w/ Single, Double & 2 run HR in leading Pirates past the Cards, ending a 6 game skid. A triple away from the cycle

Mitch Moreland - same as Frazier. Was batting under .100 vs lefties when the Sox decided to sit him against southpaws.
Last Night -sat but drew a walk in pinch hit appearance in loss to Yankees

Jonathon Holder - sent down to AAA around 3-4 weeks ago. Had been pitching in middle relief with the Yankees big league club entire year but was giving up too many HR's and was sent down. Should be back up soon

Kendall Graveman - he got his first win last week since returning from a fairly lengthy stay on the DL. Was A's opening day starter until shoulder issues sent him to the DL in May.
Last Night Houston 3 Oakland 0.
Graveman -6 IP 6 hits 2 Runs 2 ER's 3 BB 3 SO 4.54 ERA
Pitched a good game but the 2 walks he gave up in the 4th both came around to score. But overall, another good outing, his second good one in a row after returning from the DL

Brandon Woodruff - anyone have an update on him?

Could be a good thing. Dansby Swanson is playing very well after his little AAA stint

Andy Green more or less stated that it is a plate discipline thing. Needs to work on that OBP. He's sustained his batting average for several weeks now, just not getting enough walks or looking at enough pitches. Also is probably a thing with his clock since the Padres are once again way out of contention. They want to extend that rookie contract as much as possible. He'll be fine and probably back up soon.

Has nothing to do with his clock.

Once you play in the Major Leagues, your clock starts & sending a guy down has ZERO affect on it.

He is being sent down because he doesn't get on base, while working with a 28% K-rate & 6% BB rate

incorrect. Super Two, arbitration, and Free Agency all depend on service time at the end of each season. DL stints while on the ML roster count as ML service time, but getting sent down stops the clock.

Woodruff has a 1.something ERA in about 18 innings of work and has earned a rotation spot.

Chris Stratton will also be a permanent rotation guy for SF going forward. Had 10 Ks in 7+ last outing.

I stand corrected though. You were right.

Service times rules are one of the most difficult to understand, &, usually teams work opposite of this by delaying the call-up of a prospect rather than demoting them late in the season.

It's against MLB rules to manipulate service time. So of course it is never, officially, about service time in any way. But really, it is.

Yup. You are right. Service time rules are usually manipulated by delaying a call up but are working in reverse here by demoting a guy.

Mind blowing stat of the day. He's struck out 125 times so far in the 2017 season. Tony Gwynn's WORSE year was 40 strike outs (for the entire season). That's not a knock on Hunter just unbelievable about Gywnn. He averaged 21 so's a season!

Stratton was nasty last time out vs Nats. 0 er and 10 k's over 7 innings. He pitches tomorrow vs Brewers.

And he is 2nd on the team in homeruns and 3rd in RBIs and runs scored. Let's not act like he isn't good enough to play MLB although I know you wish that.

That's right. He only has another 15 years or so to prove you wrong.

But I'm sure in 2018 when he goes on the DL after game 150 for a pulled hammy, you'll CTRL + C this post and throw out your shoulder patting yourself on the back again.

Yep, the Padres are trying to develop him for the long term similar to how Atlanta sent down Swanson for a little while. Renfroe hit 20 homeruns in a little over half a season so he may get another shot. ****
