I believe this was a result of the investigation but can't decide on the link. Thoughts?

I thought he had some kind of knee surgery and claimed he couldn't keep up with the demands of the committee.

I think that's when things were first getting hot. He got out before things got awkward.

I've wondered that myself. There are obvious links to Freeze, hiring Freeze, his role in the passing of the torch to the new administration, etc... but if he resigned as a result of the investigation, there has to be more.

I have often thought that it has to do with the investigation and not health. I believe that's he is just like a cockroach, scatters when the lights on. He was wise enough to separate himself and hide between layers of protection.

I honestly feel that he saw the hand writing on the wall, and knew that it was a matter of time when the NCAA or a true reporter found something incredible against the Bears and Bucky.

My theory is that Archie got dragged into all this shit by the Network mainstays. I think he was an honorable guy who got too close to some serious assholes and his reputation will be tainted, deservedly or not.

At this point, anything they've done is questionable. Hell, should we believe that Jordan Wilkins was academically suspended because of a mistake by an admin?

And that Hugh Freeze is an honorable guy too.*****

No, not even close. I've had dealings with Archie in the past, and have never known him to be a double dealing bastard like Freeze and Bjork and the rest. I don't think he is blameless, but just not actively malevolent like other Network creeps

You are the MSU fans I was referring to in the other thread when I said Archie and Bucky have the same characteristics. Portray the aw shucks good ole boy mantra by day, while orchestrating the network and their illegal dealings by night. Archie is the network and the network learned that they could get away with their wrongdoings is the face of the network and program are loved by the media. It's who they always have been.

Archie is one of the most, if not the most, all time influential members of the network. He just relies on a complicit media and his good ole boy perception to avoid prosecution. Plus he doesn't openlyband outwardly flaunt it like Bucky. He does it more passively and avoids negative attention.

Archie is tied into the casino business. Good people don't go that route in life.

Wasn't Archie the one who had people harass that UT doctor about the Peyton sexual harassment incident?

I completely forgot about Peyton tea-bagging the trainer, LOL! There was clearly some shady behavior in keeping her quiet though

In a 2000 book entitled “Manning,” co-written by Peyton, his father Archie Manning and the writer John Underwood, the Mannings revisited the incident and described Naughright as “vulgar-mouthed.” After the book came out, Naughright sued the Mannings, Underwood and the publisher for defamation.

I understand the Mannings have to protect their image for endorsement purposes but it seems a little thin skinned to attack her in 2000 when she had kept her mouth shut. Seems a little like Hugh responding to everything on twitter and defiantly stating if you have something send it to olemiss compliance email. Maybe UNM just makes guys into little bitches.

Casinos are not a positive. They take advantage of the poor, the stupid, and the desperate.

You are the MSU fan who scores in the bottom quartile for reading comprehension. I said the exact opposite of what you suggest: "...double dealing bastard like Freeze and Bjork and the rest." I know Archie. I suspect you don't.

They CAN have a negative impact on the poor, the stupid and the desperate but they don't cause them to be that way

Archie doesn't own a casino ... he has a sports bar/restaurant. It's in cahoots with Harrah's, but that could be a matter of a business location as much as anything else.
