Looking back over the last decade will there ever be another run like the one Bama has been on. Some stats below on the ten year run. Also, when do you see the run ending? It is really impressive when you put it down on paper. Can they keep it going once Saban does leave/retire?

SEC West Champs - 7
SEC Championships-5 (currently have won 3 in a row)
National titles ----- 4
Record under saban- 106-18

Urban Meyer is doing it now. First of all, he got 2 national titles in his first 4 years at Florida, which was better than Saban. His record thus far at Ohio State has been better than Saban's during that time. They are tied head to head. Alabama's 2011 national title is phony anyway, they should have never been there, so that is cancelled out by Meyer going undefeated in 2012 and not getting in the BCS due to probation.

Many people predict Ohio State to win the 2017 championship, so I'd say he's well on his way.

No. That's incorrect....

I do, however, agree with you RE: Meyer/OSU... He's killing recruiting and is in a "better" conference to dominate, IMO.

What makes Saban's feat so damn impressive is how long he's maintained his intensity. Seems pretty clear Meyer is just as good or better of a coach than Saban. The question will be how long he can keep it up.

He already flamed out once at Florida. We'll see if he can keep it up at OSU.

He definitely has reduced his stress level some by not being in the SEC, but I'm not sure it's that different. He gets several more weak teams each year, but he still has
a fan base with pretty high expectations.

Saban ran Urban off ... 2 Times...

Now he's in a better position, if Jim doesn't cause him too much grief.

Urban accepted the Florida job before Saban bolted to the Dolphins, so he technically ran Saban off at least once (using the same logic Bama fans do when claiming national championships).

Both are dominant coaches at dominant programs.

He also beat your ass en route to a national championship. Get over it, he's just as good of a coach or better, and 10 years younger.

No it's not. The very reason that we have the 4-team playoff is because the world realized how big of a joke it was that Alabama got to play in that game. That game was supposed to be for the NATIONAL championship, not the SEC championship. In a playoff, you can get 2 teams in from the same conference, in a one-game scenario like the BCS, you cannot. LSU should have been playing Oklahoma State.

Likewise Notre Dame should have been playing Ohio State in 2012 too, if not for probation.

Nobody said Alabama wasn't the 'best' team. Most people would say they were the best, in both 2011 and 2012. But 'best' does not equal 'champion' and you lost a game (at home) both years. You got incredibly lucky. Accept it and move on.

The stated goal of the BCS was to "match up the 2 best teams" for the championship game... It achieved that in 2011...

I agree that Bammer got incredibly lucky when Okie State choked vs Iowa State...

So which undefeated power 5 team got passed on for Bama to make it to the Championship?

The reality is that Bama had the resume that was most worthy of being in the national championship game after LSU.

And we don't have a 4 team playoff because it was a joke that bama got to play in that game. We have a 4 team playoff in part because the BCS put the two most deserving teams in the championship game and people realized that they didn't just want the two most deserving teams in the championship game. There were other things they wanted also (like rewarding conference champions), and they couldn't accomplish what they wanted without a playoff.

For the 2nd time, the BCS failed. That is why they changed to a 4 team playoff. It needed one more tweak - one that prevented a rematch OR that prevented 2 teams from the same conference to play each other.

How in the sam hill can you say that two teams from the same conference were the "most deserving" when we had no evidence for it? The only evidence we had was that LSU beat Alabama. You can assume all day long (which everyone did) but until you give another team from another conference a chance, you'll never know.

Oklahoma State is the team that should have been there. They had 1 loss just like Alabama and no common opponents.

According to the BCS, the goal was to match the 2 best teams.... That's their words, not mine.

And you've already stated that Bammer was the best team that year, so, I'm not certain what your argument is...

Now, if you want to say that it's your opinion that Bammer didn't deserve a rematch, I could dig that....

Regardless, the best team in the country won the title in 2011.

Tusk, Bama should not have been there, but they were and they won. Should not have been possible, but of course its bama and for the same reason they claim the 1941 championship. They are the darling.

this is incorrect according to the BCS.
