View Full Version : What do you think actually happened at Ole Miss?

You can be funny (or attempt to be), you can be serious, whatever. However, after the WonderWoman rope of truth is thrown around all those characters, what do you think actually happened up in Oxford? Because these are all conjectures, the om shitbirds can't sue us.

My theory is: Hugh Freeze set up a payment system to pay 5-*'s just to visit. This may go on at big-time universities, but it's usually handled by wannabes (not even boosters). At om, it was the coaching staff and boosters doing this. Then, they brought in some "talent" to ply their trade with these recruits, some from Memphis (ie, Out Of State, thus Federal Charges of Soliciting).

Then, if the player committed elsewhere, the boosters/coaching staff blackmailed them by telling them they had tape of their money transactions and "dates". If they didn't commit to om, they threaten to release the tapes and they'd become ineligible.

The ones who went to Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, etc., the Rebs couldn't touch. However, the two who went to The Mississippi State University they decided to "out" because they thought we were "jes po' lil Misisipi State"...not realizing we have a real Bulldog in John Cohen, a politically-connected and saavy President in Mark Keenum, and a completely anal Compliance Director in Bracky Brett.

om is 17ed.

After Mullen made the infamous statement after the Egg Bowl OM crapped their pants and decided they would go "all in" just like Auburn had done. OM sees themselves on par with Auburn so if they can play the game and win a NC then why can't OM. ForWard Rebels was born and the Network took over the university. The Network inspired search committee found an up and coming coach who was willing to do anything to succeed and Hugh Freeze was hired. It helped that they had Briarcrest dirt on him already because that ensured that he wouldn't actually believe one of his own sermons and convert. Recruitapalooza was born. Cash, girls, etc for recruits would make Oxford the "greatest college town" and would be their cover for getting top talent. It was good for two wins over Bama, a Sugar Bowl, #3 in the nation, and one miracle play away from a SEC West championship.

Then Rosebowl rose up.

I think the Pay for Play system was already in place but unorganized. A few boosters saw the opportunity to organize and grow the system while hiding behind the "aw shucks, praise the lord" persona that Freeze projected. They grew the system too fast and lost control. Mutt is pretty spot on with his description of the system, I can't disagree with anything you said.

Kinda makes you wonder who really was behind the "Forward Rebels" movement..? I believe to some degree, Freeze was jut brought in to be a puppet, "coach the team and 'we' will take care of the rest"....$$$$ It was a case of win at any cost. But, one has to wonder about the "Hey Hugh" video, while its the funniest thing I have seen in a while....there might be some truth in there! Good ole AM will take care of everything....

Ole Miss has been paying players for a while. They brought in Freeze, because #1 - he could coach a little bit, #2 - he had the good image, and #3 - he was loyal so he'd overlook the cheating. Essentially he was Gene Chizik except a better coach. And Freeze could recruit - he helped Orgeron and knew how to devise a gameplan. All of this led to their early success, it's not rocket science. While many other MSU fans were making fun of the Freeze hire, I knew better, the guy was just good enough as a coach, and he was very passionate about Ole Miss. I didn't like it from the start.

Fast forward to February 2013 - they simply went too far with Laremy Tunsil. They could have gotten away with everyone else, except him. Alabama and Georgia started filing complaints, and that was that.

As far as Hugh Freeze and escorts, I don't believe he was calling them for himself. He was getting enough women on the side in Oxford. But what it proves is that OLE MISS is involved with escorts somehow - my guess is that they are using them for recruits (duh). There is also something deeper to the High Cotton/Rebel Rags story.

It all comes back to Laremy Tunsil in my opinion. As far as how they are handling everything else, I can only think they are simply naive, arrogant, etc. and living in a bubble.

If you pull the microscope way back you can trace this thing all the way back to the hiring of Dan Mullen. Mullen beat them three years in a row and their fragile egos could not stand it. They made the decision right then and there to do absolutely whatever it takes to try and best Mississippi State.

They would stop at nothing.

They hired a con of a head coach who actively instilled a defense system around him to cover his deeds while he blatantly cheated in every way possible. That defense system he used was his faith. And ultimately, of all the awful things Ole Miss has done, using Christianity to mask, cover up their cheating and using it to attack anyone who questioned them, is BY FAR the worst.

They love to play the ole tired line of "everyone cheats". True, every program, every year, has some kind of impropriety take place. In the vast majority of FBS programs though, the "cheating" that happens is a rogue booster, who the university couldn't possibly control, goes out on his own and gives some recruit, usually from his home town, some kind of improper benefits. Ole Miss fans don't understand that only in maybe a very small handful of programs does cheating go on like what happened at Ole Miss. It is NOT normal for coaching staffs and head coaches to ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE in the cheating. That is extremely rare and very stupid because sooner or later it will be discovered.

Ole Miss is guilty thus far of:

1) Academic Fraud
2) Slush Fund for Paying Players
3) Pay for Play
4) LOIC
5) Improper Contact
6) And probably soon to be hiring whores to sleep with underage kids

That's as deep into cheating you can possibly get. And to add insult to injury they did under the guise of a charlatan who loved to tell you how holy he was so he could shut down any debate.

And the best part of all this is that we just fought their biggest effort to try to surpass us as a program and we won the war. During Freeze's tenure State won more ball games (40-39), our highs were higher than their highs (number 1 in the nation, vs number 3), and our lows were higher than their lows (going to St. Petersburg bowl vs. sitting at home), and finally, the last game Hugh Freeze will ever coach in he got his teeth kicked in all while playing with a bunch of hired guns. State did all this by doing things the right way and not defiling ourselves or our university.

Now we have the opportunity to dismantle them once and for all. It's imperative over the next decade that we capitalize on this upcoming wilderness that they'll be walking through and establish ourselves as the undisputed dominant program in the state. The hard part is accomplished. Now we have to turn our attention to something that we directly control, winning football games.

100% agree with everything you said but you forgot $800 and $13K cash to sign, cars for players, free hotel for family, free rides to Oxford , and free swag for recruits have all been caught by the NCAA.

Have you been on the campus lately? I rode thru the shadow of VH Saturday, let me tell you about that campus, that sucker is sooooooo beautiful, I just wanted to camp out and stay.

I don't know how a recruit can resist.*

The real timeline:

Ole Miss had a coach in Cutcliffe who could coach but was not on board with SEC style recruiting, much less Ole Miss style recruiting.
Ole Miss first thought they were going to put Cutcliffe on notice and force him to hire some recruiters more comfortable with SEC/Ole Miss recruiting.
When Cutcliffe called their bluff, they actually thought they coudl go out and get a big name.
Ole Miss gets spurned by candidates 1-98, and end up deciding on a DL coach with no coordinator experience who has a reputation as a lights out recruiter.
Orgeron basically adds energy and a process to UM's willingness to bend rules and has some recruiting success. The success is not as impressive as the star count, as Orgeron goes out and gets some character and grade risks that blue blood programs were a little cooler on. UM boosters/fans don't realize this; they think they are recruiting toe to toe with the blue bloods.
Orgeron flames out because of his lack of coaching ability combined with lack of experience and lack of a good staff to make up for it.
Nutt falls into UM's lap. Nutt is not as energetic as Orgeron on recruiting, but is actually more willing to push the envelope, even making Boone uncomfortable and starting teh saga with Saunders.
UM fans are completely fed up with Boone and view him as having been incompetent for a while and now actively holding them back by his concerns with rules. They want to dump him but Kayak has his back.
Things look good notwithstanding Boone, but then UM finds out Arkansas fans were telling the truth and that is combined with Mullen coming on the scene and antagonizing UM fans.
At the same time that UM fans are wanting to dump Boone (whom Kayak either can no longer protect or who no longer wants protection from kayak) and want to dump Nutt, the Cam Newton affair happens.
Ole Miss fans wrongly think that the SEC can shield its members from anything, and that they are on the same level as Auburn and would get what protection Auburn gets, so they decide it's open season.
The boosters wanting to get more aggressive in recruiting identify Freeze as somebody who already knows the system from Orgeron, is on board with it, and will further institutionalize it.
At around the same time, the same boosters identify Bjork as an AD candidate who will let Freeze operate.
Freeze and boosters gets too aggressive in essentially his first full recruiting class, either thinking the Newton precedent applies to them and/or not realizing that what they are doing is an order of magnitude beyond Orgeron's best results. They aren't picking off grade and character risks; they are coming in at the last second and picking off top tier recruits from blue bloods.
Freeze issues his challenge regarding information.
Freeze antagonizes NCAA staff
Freeze, Bjork, and boosters continue to operate as if Newton precedent means they don't have to worry about repercussions, even as NCAA has put them on notice that they are watching.

And that's how UM got to where they are.

Don't forget ACT fraud letting some of these "students" play at TSUN when they couldn't play anywhere else. Decades ago I played with a Mr. Football Alabama who was recruited by Stallings. He never went to college because he made something like a 7 on the ACT. If Saunders had been at TSUN back then, he would have miraculously taken it again and made a 27.

Excellent breakdown, but you left off a few key bullet points:
*Orgeron hires an unknown high school football coach, Bucky Feeze, at the request of one of the university's largest boosters for the acquisition of Blind Side
*Only weeks after his arrival at the plantation to work under Orgeron, Bucky Freeze is censured by the NCAA for improper contact with recruits.

I realize we all know this information, but we can't point out enough that Freeze was in trouble with the NCAA almost immediately upon taking a position with OM.

After visiting a site that will not be named for the first time today, y'all know what I'm talking about, I truly believe that nothing but brainwashing and indoctrination we're going on in that institution of "higher" learning. Just wow at the irony of some of the threads and wow at the delusions and lies they are feeding each other. If it weren't so damn funny to watch them screw up at every turn, it would be sad. But I think I will just sit back and watch the show and sip on my whiskey while I laugh to myself. Evening to y'all!

I honestly don't care that much that they did what they did. Only a few players here and there were really affected that state seriously wanted (especially when you consider the ones that didn't pan out on campus). The thing that makes this so impossible to turn away from, you know - the massive head on collision of a train wreck that's occurring in Oxford, is that they built Hugh Freeze up to be the closest thing on earth to Jesus. The fans who knew it was a scam refused to acknowledge it and denied it vehemently to protect Freeze's reputation. Another portion of their fans really bought the holier than thou act, which is not only said, it's also a little scary. Either way, it's an incredibly sad reality for Ole Miss fans right now.

From Freeze perspective , the blind side. He figured out he could get any athlete he wanted in school and on his team. The administration would bend the academic rules. The rich fans were more than willing to act as foster parents to tutor and foot the bills.

He and others just took that plan to a much higher level of sophistication and organization.
