My theory is: Hugh Freeze set up a payment system to pay 5-*'s just to visit. This may go on at big-time universities, but it's usually handled by wannabes (not even boosters). At om, it was the coaching staff and boosters doing this. Then, they brought in some "talent" to ply their trade with these recruits, some from Memphis (ie, Out Of State, thus Federal Charges of Soliciting).

Then, if the player committed elsewhere, the boosters/coaching staff blackmailed them by telling them they had tape of their money transactions and "dates". If they didn't commit to om, they threaten to release the tapes and they'd become ineligible.

The ones who went to Michigan, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia, etc., the Rebs couldn't touch. However, the two who went to The Mississippi State University they decided to "out" because they thought we were "jes po' lil Misisipi State"...not realizing we have a real Bulldog in John Cohen, a politically-connected and saavy President in Mark Keenum, and a completely anal Compliance Director in Bracky Brett.

Cash, girls, etc for recruits would make Oxford the "greatest college town" and would be their cover for getting top talent. It was good for two wins over Bama, a Sugar Bowl, #3 in the nation, and one miracle play away from a SEC West championship.

Ole Miss has been paying players for a while. They brought in Freeze, because #1 - he could coach a little bit, #2 - he had the good image, and #3 - he was loyal so he'd overlook the cheating. Essentially he was Gene Chizik except a better coach. And Freeze could recruit - he helped Orgeron and knew how to devise a gameplan. All of this led to their early success, it's not rocket science. While many other MSU fans were making fun of the Freeze hire, I knew better, the guy was just good enough as a coach, and he was very passionate about Ole Miss. I didn't like it from the start.

Fast forward to February 2013 - they simply went too far with Laremy Tunsil. They could have gotten away with everyone else, except him. Alabama and Georgia started filing complaints, and that was that.

As far as Hugh Freeze and escorts, I don't believe he was calling them for himself. He was getting enough women on the side in Oxford. But what it proves is that OLE MISS is involved with escorts somehow - my guess is that they are using them for recruits (duh). There is also something deeper to the High Cotton/Rebel Rags story.

It all comes back to Laremy Tunsil in my opinion. As far as how they are handling everything else, I can only think they are simply naive, arrogant, etc. and living in a bubble.

One item is missing Slime left the SEC as commish in 2015, he was providing some cover and the rest of the NCAA was ready to pounce when he left. Sankey was not willing to cover up illegal doings and the NCAA came in to investigate.

I honestly don't care that much that they did what they did. Only a few players here and there were really affected that state seriously wanted (especially when you consider the ones that didn't pan out on campus). The thing that makes this so impossible to turn away from, you know - the massive head on collision of a train wreck that's occurring in Oxford, is that they built Hugh Freeze up to be the closest thing on earth to Jesus. The fans who knew it was a scam refused to acknowledge it and denied it vehemently to protect Freeze's reputation. Another portion of their fans really bought the holier than thou act, which is not only said, it's also a little scary. Either way, it's an incredibly sad reality for Ole Miss fans right now.
