Really good player. One of the top 5 players in the state, but grades have held his recruitment back.

If we happened to get him, Heath, & Guidry on campus, it would probably be the best WR class in school history.

Headed to Juco but he's big time. You take a guy like this place him at Co-Lin for 2yrs & reap the benefits in 2yrs.

With as early as guys get recruited now, it amazes me how often grades are still an issue. By the time they are in 11th grade, they pretty much know whether or not they are gonna have a legit shot at college. It's not hard to get these guys in after school ACT study sessions, tutoring during school or after school, or some other type of remediation. Obviously most of this would take place in the spring, but it's really not hard. Biggest problem I see is that high school coaches are extremely short sighted. They only care about keeping them eligible enough to play in high school and even though they get college interest, they don't let kids take the time necessary to get their academic stuff in order.

I have been in education for 14 years. I am an administrator now. I dont care if he failed 9th or 10th grade, with a year of school to go....he still has a chance. There are online credit courses, duel credit courses and credit recovery options for every student now. It is to early to say that the kid is going to JC. He may end up at Co-Lin but he still has a chance.

I agree, but it must seem to be an overwhelming scramble at that point for so many.

I think half the battle in our educational system nationwide could be handled by parents reading to kids even before their enter K-12. Getting kids to have a curiosity and interest in books and there's not much they can't overcome academically.

It'll all be second hand by the time they really need to apply themselves.

Duel = A contest with deadly weapons.
Dual = Consisting of two parts.

Fun with homophones.

Many of the kids would have to be read to by a grandparent (s). Sad but a large % have no parents around.

True. Man there are some shitty parents out there. I've had to get parents to treat their kids as a meal ticket just to get them to help. Sad, but it was the only way.
