"I've been involved in media law and FOIA cases for thirty years," Mars told ESPN. "I've unsealed court records for the Wall Street Journal in the Whitewater matter and used the FOIA to obtain public records in countless cases involving government agencies. In all those years, I've never encountered a government entity that was so defiant and so willing to just make up groundless reasons for keeping public records under wraps."

Sorry if it's been mentioned but even if it has, it is worth repeating many times.

I'm just thinking there is going to come a connection that reveals the fact that Bjork knew all about this from the outset.

So what you're saying is that OM has demonstrated "exemplary cooperation" right?*

What he is saying is ole miss picked a fight with the work attorney and is now 39ed.

Typically in legal situations involving issues like this, ole miss at some point before releasing will throw a big enough offer for the parties to settle. The plaintiffs attorney then will throw a bone to a young up and comer he likes to continue digging to help make a name for himself and get his hourly billing rate higher.

Have fun shitbirds

At the risk of starting another long discussion of the Public Records Act, they're not wrong.

Again we see a prime example of arrogance and ignorance trumping logic and common sense from the OM bunch. They got away with negligent manslaughter so many decades, the felt so emboldened that the thought they could commit 1st degree murder on the square at noon on a Saturday and walk Scott free. Once again arrogance and ignorance compelling their thoughts and actions.

Mars and LoMonte.

Since you are obviously a lawyer, where is the oversight on personal redactions??? I mean, why can't he just claim everything is personal (stretch I know)?

Come on, at some point the adults have to take over.

Yep, and that more than friendly in state press which has been such an asset to them for so long is now a rock around their neck.

No way they approach their problems the way they have with a hostile press.

The arrogance of the ole miss law school that they think they can sue their way out of all of their miss deeds will be their eventual downfall. And it will be glorious. After all the years of underhanded operations. "The world according to Dawg will triumph over the world according to shit birds."

LoMonte hedges a bit more than I would, but he does a good job of walking through why records of "personal calls" are not exempt from disclosure here (http://www.splc.org/blog/splc/2017/07/freeze-mississippi-redacted-records).

If the calls were personal, you should use a personal cell phone.

It's like me asking to see the info on my employees' work computer, and them saying they don't want me to see some personal info on it. They shouldn't even be putting personal info on a work computer. Personal info should be at home on their personal computer. If it's on the work computer, then I, as their boss, can look at it.

The phone calls cannot be redacted because they were made on the university issued and paid for phone. Freeze, like many government employees, should have carried two phones. One for work and one for personal. Call recruits, coaches, etc. on the work phone. Call your wife, the painter painting your kitchen, etc. on your personal phone.

I would hope that being embarrassed on the national stage would prompt our political leaders to put some real teeth into the FOIA but I realize our politicians are mostly gutless wonders with little desire to stand up for freedom and the people that elected them.

In 2016, cell phones KO'ed Hillary, culminating with Anthony Weiner's laptop and child pornography

In 2017, cell phones KO Bucky, there is going to be a hilarious twist....maybe Anthony Weiner will emerge as the OM recruiting pimp

Perhaps the Russian Intelligence service has infiltrated MSU too. When it comes to interjecting politics into the discussion, you just cannot help yourself.

I'm more worried about C-spire "deleting" half of the calls from its log before we get to see the log. Isn't C-spire and it's owner a BIG TCUN supporter?

I don't think they would do that. There's just way too many repercussions from doing such a thing.
