View Full Version : Freeze brought The Network down almost single-handedly*

Despite lying and cheating like a Middle Eastern carpet merchant, OM was likely to more or less skate without the draft night fiasco.

And why did draft night go south so hard for Ole Miss? It happened because Freeze convinced Tunsil to shitcan his agent and go with Sexton, royally pissing off a guy who had full access to Tunsil's texts and military grade bong photos.

Freeze had already lied flagrantly about Lindsey Miller's fight with Tunsil, sending Miller straight to the NCAA as a prime whistle blower. If you're keeping score at home, add a dozen lost scholarships and half a bowl ban just as a result of Hugh shooting his mouth about this one event.

Freeze lies again about Nutt being the real culprit and refuses to apologize even after the recruiting class is salvaged. The immediate effect of this is a lawsuit and a freedom of information filing that leads directly to Rosebowl spotting the escort number, which of course Freeze lied about one more time.

Whether or not the phone records are the smoking gun to show OM paying for escorts, blood is in the water and the scrutiny will be intense.

Toss in Hugh's come-at-me-bro compliance tweet, his blowing up at NCAA enforcement staff, his 24-7 oily sanctimony and things are all set up for NCAA armageddon.

And Armageddon it will be. If they had played it perfectly. OM might have escaped with minor sanctions. As it is, losing Freeze is only the beginning of their woe.

Their best case scenario is horrible football for a decade with national laughing-stock status thrown in for free.

THE NCAA will gut them. Rebel friends, move on to the next stage of grief negotiation; denial hasn't been working for you

*No offense to Rosebowl, the most unlikely hero journalist in modern history. I hope he makes a quarter of a million dollars off Flim Flam sales, and then a half-million more on movie rights.

The #Network is still very much intact, who do you think put Matt (Good Rebel) Luke in charge of the football program. These men control every step that is taken there, the admin in place are only running the day to day there. They make zero decisions that count.

Prison doesn't stop Mafia leaders and when the network is disassociated they will still control Ole Miss.

The Network still exists, for sure, but it is never going to work as it used to. It can't stand scrutiny. It needs a compliant media and an indifferent NCAA, and those are gone.

I think this is obvious to us, but when does the NCAA or national media start to really get into the northern miss culture of corruption? Perhaps after Flim Flam is published? Many years later? Never? It's going to be an interesting few years coming up, for sure.

Furthermore, how far does this corruption go? Will we ever know in this decade? Perhaps Steve's book addresses some of this, I'm anxious to read it.

I am STILL attempting to understand how they put someone who was caught with his hand in the recruiting cookie jar? His name is in the NOA..... This is a known fact.... Remember the New Hope kid throwing the MSU hat.... all goes back to Luke....

Bucky was the useful idiot for "The Network". Bring in your puppet you know will protray a Christian persona, of whom you know has prior transgressions dating back to his days as he butt diddled high school girls, some of which were his BBall players. You have dirt on him, tell him you'll pay him to turn thy other cheek to your network's actions and hang the prior transgressions over his head. Why else would they ride this clown out as far as they did? They knew his history, but did not fathom a true lawyer actually uncovering his past.

OM is and has been stuck in the "Good Ole Boy" Mississippi Mentality where who you know and what you own, trumps what you did and what you can prove. They've bought their way out of so many of these types of incidents since the Vaught days, they assume status quo going forward. They believed they could cheat as blatant and as brazen as they wish, and their money would grease the skids as they had in the past.

They ran into one small problem. They can no longer control the narrative with the advancements of instant social media. They could no longer control the types and character players they "recruited". It was only a matter of time before regular people started connecting simple dots. It was a shame that ED was 3-4 years ahead of actual paid "journalists" but as they say, better late than never. The journalists are finally on the scent, and it appears the gallows will be the inevitable outcome of the Bearshart Football program.

Bottom line is these ascot sporting asshats continue to stick to and rely on the past, in an all out attempt to even remotely appear relevant in the current worl of college football. They burned "Tara" to the ground for nothing, and I sure am glad I get to sit back and watch, popcorn in hand.

I think the only way to stop it to be honest with you is for Ole Miss to get the death penalty and then have alumni that actually care about the well being of the program step up and take control. I think it's going to take something extreme like that to wake them up.

The Network lost power and control the last time they were on probation- it certainly can be done again. Especially since last time it was much less than what it is now. It may be inevitable once their fans and alumni realize just how bad this is going to be- and it may possibly get worse.

There will be Ole Miss fans and alumni that will be upset to learn that some overzealous alumni basically caused their football program to be the second division one program ever to be shut down by death penalty and then throw in sex trafficking on top of that?

At the very least the threat of repeat violator status will cause them to have to lay low for awhile because at some point they will get tired of doing things the right way like they did with Cutcliffe and they will try to hire some other goon like they did with Freeze.

Freeze was simply the face of the Network. He was as close to the "brand" that they want.

That's why Tony Dungy is their ideal candidate- Respected NFL coach who is known for his Christian beliefs who also happens to be African-American. That's a lot of things that they can spin into explaining why they would get a 2013 class. Their issue of course is it's very difficult to get someone like a Dungy to somewhere like Ole Miss and even less likely that they would be able to get someone like Dungy to go along with their Network and risk tarnishing their career not to mention most coaches like Dungy want to control what kind of player they are bringing into the program- which usually means they want to stay the hell away from players like Chad Kelly.

If Houston Nutt cheated and Hugh Freeze cheated, what's that mean for Matt Luke? He's the only coach that was a hold over from Nutt's staff.

Does that mean that The Network met sometime after OM got the phone call information on Thursday, and before firing day Thursday, and decided to get rid of Hugh? That Vitter and Bjork had very little input as to whether to keep or release him?

Yes, Vitter and Bjork make no decisions that count. That's what a lot of folks just can't get their heads around, the entire thing is controlled by just a few men that give millions of dollars annually to the UMAA. I know for sure that one of them gives upwards of 8 to 10 million by himself and he does everything he can to stay in the shadows and keep his name out of the public eye.

The folks that should be making the decision are not. This is what happens when you let "fans" with money (big boosters) control your program. We look at is and say "why would an institution do that? No program has ever responded like this...it's insanity". No...it's Mississippi politicians and powerbrokers trying to control a football program and they don't understand the process so they are driving their program into the ground. Think about it this way. Where does the State of Mississippi rank in terms of public education, health care, infrastructure, etc? OK, many of the same people that have made the decisions that have led this state to the point it's at are also making the decisions in this. That should explain why such ignorantly, stupid decisions have been made on the part of UM since this began.

As long as they have a football team the network will exist. Don't get your hopes up.

What about McGriff? He was instrumental in signing Treadwell and then jumped ship right after signing day to go to the saints.

It would take some work to find, but I think there are a lot of posts here from years ago speculating on what the end of Freeze would look like. Many thought arrogance and perhaps a Jimmy Swaggart moment would do him in. And it did. All that was needed was enough time for the lies to pile up and arrogance to burn bridges.

The only thing that could kill it would be to expose those involved. That's not going to happen, this goes back way before O this goes back to the Vaught years.

If you are referring to cheating in general. It goes back many many years further back than Coach O. It was just not the sophisticated Nework that Coach O showed them how to implement.

We can only hope the Network that made the decision to hire Orgeron, then Nutt, then Freeze is still intact.

And those clowns were chosen without crippling penalties in place. Belichick wouldn't win two conference games a year with what they're facing now in Oxford.

Who do you think put Matt Luke in place? If he is able to somehow scratch out 6 wins the interim tag will be removed from his title. These men know he will do exactly as he is told.

Saving 3.5 Million dollars.... he will be ONLY there.... August, September, October, November, part of December -- as he should receive the good ole' SHOW CAUSE.....

Why not ask the boosters wife (within 30 miles of MSU) about who orchestrated the throwing of the MSU Hat mess on signing day 2017 at a local school... Or ask another booster (also within 30 miles of MSU) about the booster and Luke in the same room with a recruit... different schools.

Make sure to read Flim Flam.....

Unless I missed it, while he is mentioned in NCAA NOA, it does not recommend a show cause for Luke.
