there's no sound. I've shut down, re-booted but the only sound I get are the blips when I change the volume down in the lower left.

'bout to throw my lap top out the window. why did this shit happen? anybody got a clue?

Is it ALL videos, or just an occasional one? If the latter, could be the video's fault, not yours. And you need to make sure you don't have earphones plugged in, and that both the volume on your computer and on the video itself are set at something other than zero.
