The scapegoat responds
Former Ole Miss Assistant Athletic Director Barney Farrar vigorously defended himself against allegations that he was the mastermind responsible for recruiting violations in the football program. JJ obtained a copy of his response through a public records request and posted it below.

The staff has alleged that Farrar, a former football staffer for the University of Mississippi(?Ole Miss?), arranged impermissible recruiting inducements to be provided to then prospective football student-athletes, xxxx and xxxx, by representatives of the institution?s athletic interests (?RIAI?). The staff?s investigation and resulting allegations against Farrar rely almost exclusively on the statements xxxx of and xxxx, both of whom now play football for xxxx and xxxx each have the motivation to be untruthful, and have shown to be unreliable witnesses whose respective statements cannot sustain the allegations leveled against Farrar.

Before the panel can pass judgment on Farrar, it must first know who he is. Farrar has coached and been a staff member of NCAA-affiliated universities and their respective football programs for more than three decades. During those many years of service, he has never had a single accusation of improper conduct leveled against him by anyone. In fact, the NCAA?s original NOA against Ole Miss that preceded the present NOA made no allegations against Farrar. Farrar only became a target of the staff?s investigation after xxxx and xxxx were inserted into this matter, granted immunity, and force-fed a narrative rife with inconsistencies and outright untruths, designed to fit an agenda.

Despite the inconsistencies in xxxx and xxxx testimony and despite the lack of corroborating evidence the staff through its NOA embraces and accepts xxxx and xxxx testimony as true. However, when all of the ?evidence? is considered as a whole, the staff?s investigation actually shows that the purported violations allegedly committed by RIAIs did not result from anything that Farrar either did or did not do. Rather, if the RIAIs did commit violations of the NCAA?s rules, they did so without any involvement from Farrar and without Farrar?s knowledge.

Other than xxxx claim that he received $2,000 worth of Ole Miss gear from xxxx, which has been summarily debunked by xxxx legal counsel, xxxx, the enforcement staff?s entire case against Farrar is built on the inconsistent, uncorroborated, and outright untruthful testimony of xxxx. The staff ignored the obvious failings of xxxx suspect testimony and proceeded with charges against Farrar, for reasons known only to them. The staff cherry-picked the narrative which best fit its story. The staff molded xxxx testimony to fit a storyline that involved Farrar.

The response to each allegation is included in the documents posted below.

UNM claims in their response that they fired BF for lying to the NCAA.

Why would he lie to the NCAA if he was innocent?

Why would UNM fire him for lying if he was telling the truth?

Why would the NCAA single him out if he was not guilty of the allegations? It is not like they don't have enough evidence to prosecute UNM without it. Well, maybe they were looking for something because of the undisputed draft night texts. Which reminds me, what has happened to Stephen Miller?

I agree with the questions you posted.... The last question, I believe the answer is as follows:
1. BF has the goods on HF
2. BF has the goods on the 'network'
3. BF knows about the bank and where it is located
4. BF knows who is the 'network'

SO BF will:
1. BF will come out smelling like a 'rose' compared to HF
2. BF would make a good witness against OM and other boosters
3. OM FIRED THE WRONG COACH..... as the illegal recruiting continued AFTER BF was terminated... FACT....

Mimi, I know all that is assumed true or maybe even known among some, but it's irrelevant now. I'd even venture to say that the COI has some info in their hip pocket that will negate much sympathy for om.

Fact is the NCAA is done with "new info" for now. Om didn't fire the wrong coach. They just haven't shown contrition because of how it will play with their givers. Should they fire freeze? Sure. But the investigation train has left the station.

The verdict is already in. This is about sentencing. Barney rolling on freeze rolling on networks and such will be for another day if ever.

This.

All 'credibility issues' of SA, Redacted assholes, and evidence have been resolved in the eyes of the enforcement committee. They presented the allegations they were already prepared to go to court (if needed) to defend.

The new business model is to only use the allegations they can slam dunk prove.

This is posturing. UNM knows what the NCAA knows and they fired BF.

I know gravedigger...
We can always wish... Just waiting on the hammer to fall on Tuesday, June 27....

As to the wrong coach being fired. The precedence has been set by OM as to the firing of Head coaches also involved in the NOA that was settled.
It is "Just When" will the hammer fall on HF.

They don't want to fire freeze because of the buyout. Let him get a sc and he is gone with no buyout.

if the football coach you are mentioning works at the school that #___ SA played at- then there is no violation. HS coaches- regardless of what college they attended or what school they support- can take their players anywhere they want and buy them whatever they want. Its not any kind of violation.

Unethical yes. NCAA violation???? No

They don't want to fire him bc they are all in and think they can get off with not much more than their proposed penalities. If Freeze gets a SC, they are likely going through with the institutions monitor piece as well. If that happens, and I don't see why it's not at the point, Freeze's buyout is going to be chump change compared to the forfeited revenue share these guys are looking at.

I think it's a foregone conclusion to everyone that Freeze is gonna be gone. They can buy him out now and pay millions on top of the millions they are already paying to defend themselves, or they can wait until the show cause comes down and fire him for cause without paying his buyout. The old joke "it's cheaper to keep her" is in play here.

What BF did not say is that the coach used HIS season tickets for this SA to get into the games. This HS Coach lost his job as a asst. football coach....
There are other violations concerning this coach and the school.

So who are these boosters that have the ear of Vitter and Bjork that convince them this strategy is a good idea? Obviously there's Archie and maybe Scruggs. But how can they be so blind to not understand this strategy will surely backfire? No one is that dumb. Is Freeze blackmailing all of them lol

You have a seriously high opinion of that program if you think they can consistently get to breakeven seasons.
