I thought this was interesting. I says that only 3.0% of MS HS football players get Division 1 scholarships, compared to 5.0% from Alabama and 8.3% from Louisiana.

I'm surprised the percentages are that high for each of the 3 states

Something is off with that stat.

No way almost 1 of 10 Louisiana HS football players get recruited by D1 schools.

That's way beyond reasonable

Must be counting the money TSUN is paying kids not to attend their real rival.

You have to keep in mind that a lot of players in Mississippi are not recruited because of academics...

I hear you, but the stats are compiled by the NCAA.

Define "recruited".

You could argue that having a guy come to camp is recruiting him. Or does it mean offering?

Mississippi and Louisiana are very similar when it comes to educational achievement. It would be interesting to dig into the methodology that went into these stats. At first glance they look flawed. One thing that came to mind was the fact that Mississippi has a robust Junior College system while Louisiana has a lot of small D-1's (La.Tech, McNeese, Nicholls, etc.)

Find the percentage of Power 5 recruits and I'll listen.

But how many went the JUCO route then went D1? Maybe not right out of HS but after JUCO.
