Why would they be down? They finished with a SR last year and I think the only guy they lose was Jake Fraley and Jessie Stallings. They returned their entire pitching staff and closer, both catchers, Deichman moved to the OF and they are playing true freshmen at the corner INF spots, but return both MIF and the OF had three guys returning for them until one of the Jordan brothers got hurt. I think Coombs started for them last year if I remember correctly too and I guess he just got beat out by Slaughter or platoons with him.

So they're returning all of the main parts of their pitching staff and no less than six guys and could start up to 8 guys from last year.

We don't have anyone out of the pen to pitch to Deichmann. Ball game. I called it about 8:30. Our pen has no matchups which you have to have at this time and beyond. They don't have one either so they won't win the cws. But we have to score a whole lot to get there. We win Sunday and Monday is anything goes.

I agree I Seen It. All of our left handed pitchers were the ones injured. Thank you to you and the mods for letting the posters (me) blow off steam. It's hard to lose like that and I think I'm now over my posting diatribe on the subject. We still have at least one more game and two to go to get to the CWS. It seems this team doesn't play it's best until its back is against the wall. It would so totally be like this team to lose this way and find ways to win the next two...

I mentioned this when deichman came up in the 8th. Go lefty lefty with Barlow. He has good stuff, but struggles spotting up. May have crapped himself in that situation.
