View Full Version : Bought a Gimmicky Cork (Versamax Bolt)

It's trick is a small spool that will hold line so you can adjust depth by wrapping and unwrapping. In theory it sounds great using the same setup for trout in open bays where you need 3 ft or leader and then a cpl wraps and now you're at 16 inches in shallow marsh fishing for reds. I'll use it in GI next weekend and I'll report back.

Instructions. Only thing I don't understand is who in the hell uses braid for a leader? I'll be testing it with flouro

I bought one of the original ones a couple weeks ago and didn't notice the "better with braid" comment, until I got home. I put it on a rod with mono and it seems to nick the mono with every wrap of the line. Not sure how well it's going to work like that. Love the idea of changing depths easy, but you can do that with the clip on oval corks. I do like the sound of it though with those different pieces. We'll see.

Do you mean the original versamax that has the 2 chambers where you customize turn weight and rattles inside?
