This is a very juicy nugget in the article: "The NCAA also is under intense pressure from the membership to strike hard in the Ole Miss case, but the NCAA definitely has applicable bylaws to use in that case."

I guess Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, and Ohio State want rebel blood to spill. So be it.

IF those POLICIES were NOT written policies over 20 years.. THEN... UNC is correct....

OM is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT issue... ACT Fraud, money laundering, paying players, banks, atms, electronics, book bags, jewelry, hookers, boosters, etc..... what's left.... OM has HUNG themselves and the Boosters and Coaches will NOT stop......

In a nutshell the UNC defense is: "we are a garbage university with fake majors, but thousands of students, not just athletes, take our worthless classes" AND "the NCAA has no rule that we must provide a quality education"

Tell you what, I thank god that I went to MSU after taking classes at places like Oklahoma (the OU) that is a totally worthless university

Hey, WAIT a MINUTE.... Look at this one..... General Studies -- absolutely useless for a college grad...... http://generalstudies.olemiss.edu/

This was CREATED while Freeze was at OM the 1st time. It was ORIGINALLY CREATED to benefit ADULTS who ALREADY had college hours but not a degree. Many of these people being "older" and JUST need a degree for a job promotion..

Needless to say, OM has graduated 55 football player since this degree was created -- PLEASE explain what the hell any 24 year old can do with this so called degree????? ugh... My tax dollars are paying for this SO DEGREE..... IHL needs to wake UP... I know for a FACT that MSU watches the players, classes, grades, class attendance and study halls.... We are graduating MEN with a DEGREE they can get JOBS...

Give you a paraphrase from several COI cases I have read this past year - 'The School/Coach/Administration said they did not.....The COI did not believe them". It's an interesting article, but if UNC skates there will be an even greater outcry than if UNM gets let off easy.

And I agree, Baylor is the most hideous of all these cases.

NCAA cannot address a CRIME (Baylor's is a crime).... NCAA said it... and I spent several hours looking for something else and I started looking for those policies also... NOTHING.... I do not see UNC getting off easy. OM cannot get off PERIOD....

Does ANYONE, in their right mental state, believe any damn thing OM coaches, players, staff, boosters, etc. has to tell the NCAA at this point.... HELL NO... OM is STILL CHEATING..... Was given another boosters name today, guns and all... JUST STOP OM Boosters... You are "killing" yourselves.....

Remember those who TOLD their stories have nothing to lose....

TO the coach that offered a student a Whore/Prostitute/Escort..... Clean your act up before messing with a MINOR..... you deserve a jail cell....

I understand the NCAA cannot address a crime - but Baylor remains the most hideous situation of all. Second only to what happen ed at Penn State.

Go back to that paraphrase - the COI has the latitude to inflict pain if it chooses. They will on UNM because UNM has made it easy. This is 100% self-inflicted on their part.

NCAA has to step aside on the crimes, but they can address some of the "misdemeanors". If an athletics program is involved in any cover-up of these crimes, then the NCAA can and should issue penalties.

Ok DancingRabbit..... how does NCAA report this bank fraud, money laundering, 501(c)3 statue misuse, etc....

What is Bank Fraud
The criminal offense of bank fraud is deliberately engaging in a secret scheme or deception intended to defraud a bank or financial institution, to obtain money or property owned by the bank or financial institution. Bank fraud is considered to be a white collar crime. In the United States, a criminal charge of bank fraud generally applies when an individual knowingly executes, or attempts to execute, at act (1) in order to defraud a financial institution, or (2) to receive money, assets, credits, securities, or property from a bank or financial institution using false information, pretenses, or insincere promises.

Money Laundering. The process of taking the proceeds of criminal activity and making them appear legal. Laundering allows criminals to transform illegally ...

I don't think NCAA is going to buy their reasoning.

1. If the coaches knew it was going on then they are guilty even if they did not push athlete into the class. I just don't think the NCAA is going to say it was OK to turn a blind eye. Those coaches knew they were letting athletes on the field who should not have be there.

2. Athletes took the class to stayed eligible. So in reality they had ineligible athletes on the field. The will not skate on that.

What I wanted to highlight in the OP was that other member institutions are putting intense pressure on the NCAA to hammer OM. That is exciting to me.

And I also found it interesting that the article states that other ACC members were pushing for a heavy hand towards UNC.

Impossible! I've been told many times that member institutions of the NCAA and SEC don't wish ill will upon fellow members!! These programs are run as businesses and are totally cutthroat. If you can eliminate your competition then you do. With no mercy. I think you and I are on the same page on this and we both see how this is going to end for tsun.

Ped State never really paid for their crime. That Athletic Department should've been razed to the ground, from the Crappy Valley stadium right down to the Sandusky Showers.
