This is my 2nd version of this for the year. You can find the earlier version here (each one links to the previous one, including back through the years):
http://www.elitedawgs.com/showthread.php?54276-Runs-Created-(sabermetrics)-Who-Cares-Edition
You can also find a more in depth description of what this means in the previous one.

A few things stand out to me... Obviously, Rooker is amazing. His numbers are far above what anyone did on last years team. After Rooker though, the rest of the team is pretty far below where our hitters finished last year... all of them.

BABIP is good indicator of luck and/or skill when compared against other stats in a single season. That's more of an observation, than fact, but the things that stand out to me there are, Bragg has an unusally high BABIP. Given his other stats, it looks like this comes from his high strikeout ratio. It seems as if he could get better control of his Ks, he'd be much improved. In Mangum's case, however, it appears to have more to do with his talent to get hits. More of his at bats that aren't Ks or HRs go for hits than everyone elses except Rookers.

As always, the chart is sorted by "(RC/PA)*4" as I believe this is the single best indicator of how good a batter is assuming the sample size is large enough.

And according to this, our 5th BEST hitter is... drum roll, please..................

BELMONT!!!! For all the sh!t he gets from the board, Luke Alexander is coming in at almost 19 runs created per game. Here's hoping he, Rooker, Magnum, Gridley and Cody Brown catch fire from now thru the end of June.

Blaylock has struck out on almost half of his at bats. Maybe he can throw pitches as well as he has been missing them.

Btw, this is an awesome graph. Thanks for doing it!

Belmont's only problem is that he cannot hit SEC pitching. He's actually hit ok in the OOC

You're reading it wrong. RC is a total, so it naturally goes up the more you play. The column next to it is an average and is a better indicator of runs contributed per game, in which case he'd be our 8th best hitter.

That makes more sense as Alexander is responsible for 18.62 Runs Created TOTAL on the season basically because he's only now started receiving bench time for not performing. In other words, 9 Belmonts in a lineup would be expected to yield ~3.96 runs per game while 9 Rookers in a lineup would yield ~10.8 runs per game.

Great work! I enjoyed looking at it. What stands out to me even though it's not surprising is just how dominant Rooker is. Sometimes stats give us an even better picture of that sometimes.
