Well my wife and I had finally got to where I could handle my 7 y/o having Myodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and having a BMT, and his brother being the donor, but last week I got the worst news in my life again. My son has fanconi anemia (FA) along with MDS. That will require us going to cincinnati which is 1 of 2 hospitals that specialize in FA. Life expectancy of this condition is around 29 y/o if you believe what you read on the internet. I will find out more next week when we travel to Cincy for more tests. Our 10 y/o has a 25% chance of having the same condition. We are waiting for the results. Should have them by end of next week or early the next. If he has it we don't have a related donor which makes it worse. If he does have it, it makes it that much worse, and we will be searching for unrelated donors for both eventually. We will be having the BMT in Cincy rather than here, where it would be so much easier, but they have never done a BMT on a FA patient, so we will be going to the experts. Please pray for our family in this trying time. Thanks.

Dang fella. My prayers for all of y'all.
And dang it, while I'm at it, how do I go about getting tested to be a BMT donor?

Thanks to everyone. And Missouri dawg has the answer for being donor. Bethematch.com. For 18-44 y/o it's free and easy. You probably won't be a match for my son(s) but there are plenty more out there that could use our help. Whites (which I am)are almost guaranteed a good match but blacks and other ethnic groups aren't so lucky. So to all races do what you can to help this cause. Children are so precious and innocent and shouldn't have to be put through these things. Perspective on life changes when that child is your own. Thank u all for your prayers we need them all and God hears them.

So sorry your family is having to go through this Boodawg. I've been praying for your little boy but didn't realize at the time he was yours. A lady in my Sunday School class has been mentioning your son the last few weeks and will continue to do so.
