There was some stat Canny tweeted the other day that more guys went to college on the opening day rosters than didn't. Something like 65% went to college. It was surprising to me especially since all the international players are counted in that stat which basically have zero chance at going to college.

It's refreshing to see our baseball coach actually try to get guys into school rather than tell them to just take the money and run.

But yes in general your odds of making it to MLB are better if you go to college first. You're only going to make the millions in the first few rounds of the draft.

The thing I like about our 2017 and especially our 2018 class at this point is that we have guys like Holmes, Ginn, and Jackson who you have very little chance of getting in school, but we also have a bunch of guys in that 100ish-200 range that you're much more likely to get in school, and they have the chance to be big-time college players. Our 2018 class is filled with those kind of players.

I don't have any names to be totally honest but Robbie Faulk said to expect some more commits during the following weeks. Most of the top 100 have already committed for 2018 so we'll see.

I do expect us to get another JUCO catcher and infielder.
