Plan B?

Who is our plan B now that Brooks is gone? Do we go for a grad transfer or just save a scholarship for the next year? We really need help at that 4 position and I was looking forward to having Brooks for depth. I'm not getting my hopes up though. We were expecting to go after a grad transfer last year and ended up with Datcher.

I'd just save it for '18. We still have Herard, Holman, and Ado as primary post options, then Datcher and possible Feazell (may not redshirt now) who can give us minutes.

Healthy basketball players rarely if ever RS. He would've got the garbage time minutes.

If we don't have a top 100-150 player available or a grad transfer you hold the scholarship until next year. We need at least 2 spots for next class.

If you can find a grad transfer to sign up that is essentially the same thing as saving it for '18 given that player would only be on the team in 2017 anyway.

You're right, but I think it would be a smart idea...or at least would have been, had Brooks come. Feazell's a guy who will be around for a while, and he may be able to turn himself into a really good college player in time. Using a year on garbage minutes just seems like a waste.

Not sure if it's anything concerning us but I know we've been talking. Mayan Kiir was set to sign with LSU yesterday but he didn't & now he & his coach have gone silent. Could be nothing to do with us but if we can swoop in & steal Kiir we've upgraded the class.

Situation was better at VCU with said kid coach. LSU not so much. If Antonio Blakney follows through on the NBA, they are easily last in the SEC.

Unless we know we have a clearly better option in the 2018 class, I'd be totally fine with Yetna. Big-time, smooth athlete who has great form on his jumper. Looks like he has a ton of potential.

From what I can find, it looks like the best grad transfer PF options are Kerem Kanter from Green Bay and Khris Lane from Longwood.

I'd prefer Kanter since he seems like more of a true PF with legit post moves, which is something we lack, but it looks like he's getting interest from some of the big boys.

Well Brooks is ranked #129 nationally from what I've seen. That would roughly put him in the same rating range as Holman. Good player but certainly not expected to come in and be a huge difference maker early on.
