I feel pretty confident in saying that this is a postseason team, possibly a dangerous one if Poole, Bragg, Belmont etc get it going at the plate. Gonna need big efforts from our starters or guys like Gordon gonna have to step up pitching wise to make a run

That 3rd thing you listed is where the problem lies. I'm not sure we even have one guy in the OF outside of Mangum and Brown who are semi-reliable, let alone 2. MacNamee is getting there but still has a ways to go. And even if somehow we found a second OF in addition to MacNamee, it would likely only be a marginal improvement over Alexander and the trade off is a significant defensive downgrade at two infield positions. That is not even to mention that Stovall needs to stay healthy for longer than 2 weeks at a time (which he hasn't been able to do for almost 2 years now) for it to even be an option.

Anyway, if you check the stats you'll see that we have only 3 players on the whole roster who have started all 33 games - Rooker, Gridley, and Alexander. That right there ought to tell you what Cann thinks of his value. Get used to him being in the lineup.

Well I think we can both agree with that. .166 in SEC play is a problem, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be one we can immediately solve with a personnel change that won't create 2-3 problems somewhere else. Cann seems to think that, given our limited options, we are better served to see if LA can play his way out of the slump. I tend to agree with that.

While I agree that we can find someone who can hit better than Luke, it's not like we will find a huge upgrade. You've watched us, we have a poor bottom of the lineup and bench. To add, we give up a ton defensively by doing as you say. The net is a loss rather than a gain. I don't like it. We are just going to struggle. But I love the grit. Cann is going a solid job with half a deck of cards.

To add, we give up a ton defensively by doing as you say. The net is a loss rather than a gain. I don't like it. We are just going to struggle. But I love the grit. Cann is going a solid job with half a deck of cards.

Yep. If you look at our bench and even assume an infinite number of potential position changes, the only guy that could remotely offer a better bat eventually is Poole. And Poole is currently well lower than Alexander in avg, OBP, SLG, and has a higher K ratio striking out roughly 1 / 3 AB's compared to 1 / 4 for LA. And he is also a much worse defender. So really, benching him makes no sense no matter how you slice it. You take away LA, replace with a worse hitter, and make 3 positions worse defensively.

Correct, if you want the next Rooker and Renfroe you need to develop the player. Let's recall that Brent and Renfroe were both Mendoza as freshmen- LA is basically a Freshman because of his injury last year - his talent will overcome

He's not used to being on base. He's just used to circling them.**
