I picture the audience here more like a chat room than an actual place to check the score. I'm assuming everyone is watching. On the rare occasion I can't watch, d1baseball is where I get scores, so I can see a box with it. I'll try to follow the rules of game threads better I guess

We'll certainly find out over the next two weekends. I was hoping for .500 in SEC play at the start of the season, and still feel like that's my goal for this team. Winning 6 SEC games in a row is impressive regardless of who we play, but we've been ridiculously clutch during those 6 games and I'm not sure if that can continue. And our pitching staff is barely adequate for a 3 game series assuming we get good innings from 2 or 3 guys, I feel like that will surely bite us a few times before the season is over.

Yeah but there is a big difference between pitchers throwing those pitches and avoiding throwing fastballs vs throwing those junk pitches for strikes. Most of the time the junk stuff isn't designed to be thrown over for strikes but rather are more chaser pitches. This guy was throwing 77 mph curve balls and changups for pitcher strikes down in the zone where it's hard to make contact with the pitch. I think he would have shut most teams down tonight. They got the win tonight but IMO they will lose in the long run because they will lose their series this weekend. It's stupid to pitch your best in non-conference when your league should mean a heck of a lot more.

I agree 100% with this. Especially since their only path to the postseason is to win their tournament more than likely.

The only good news for us is that we didn't pitch Barton, Self, or Price. And we found out that Plumlee isn't getting the job done before I drove my white ass up for Super Bulldog Weekend.

Ashcraft has a groin "they think". With us that means he probably completely tore it and will now get gangrene and have to have his leg amputated.

As far as who starts- assuming Billingsley isn't healthy and no guarantee that he will perform even if he is- I honestly think we start Pilkington, Cole Gordon or Jacob Barton, and then go Mangum on Sunday.

We can't play a five game week with this pitching staff. We can do four probably. Henderson has to keep piecing it together like he has during this run. At least we know who can and can't perform and at least we don't have to play Florida, Vanderbilt, or Mizzou.

Well then their coach is an idiot. I'll say this- we beat them if Plumlee pitches like a #2 SEC starter. Mahoney pitched well and Ashcraft did what he usually does- inconsistent between dominating and giving up a bomb which is like most freshmen. Jolley was good for an inning and then we overextended him because some dumbass decided to schedule two games with these clowns. Parker Ford is hard to assess because we threw the runner out after an infield hit but at least it was an out recorded.

Cannizaro said he would probably do away with the early 4-game weekends, but this is the trade-off. Either you play more games early and have less mid-week games or you play the standard 3 on the early weekend and end up with more weeks like this later in the season.

I have always liked the front loaded schedule. It forces more guys to play and get experience early. You get more rest in the second half when you inevitably have more injuries.

Kind of glad they used up their better guy last night. Heck, we gave up 8 runs and double digit hits to them so I don't know if we could have scored 9 to win last night even if they had thrown a lesser pitcher.

I have no issue with 4 game weekends the first couple of weekends of the season. At that point everyone is fresh and your team is usually about as healthy as its going to be. The problem I had with this year's schedule was coming back home from Oregon to play a 4 game weekend right before the conference schedule started. That is something we should not be doing. Not necessarily blaming that for getting swept at Arkansas but it sure didn't help.

Time to have walkon tryouts for pitchers. If they can't throw it across the plate, sign them up.

He'll probably throw Sunday. That an MLB starter's rest. Not like he's got a pro career anyway throwing 85% of pitches in the mid-70s

you are correct -they will pitch him Sunday-no biggie. They want to win. Good for them. he was very Jon hardin like

I agree. It's either front load the schedule or play more on Weds. And if we do more Weds that needs to be done more in the first four weeks of the season. Whoever scheduled this series with FIU this late in the season should be flogged.

And I'm with you on front loading the schedule. I prefer that over a bunch of Weds. If he does away with the four game weekends we need to do a home/home with Memphis every year, a home/home with either Tulane or New Orleans, move a Sun Belt midweek game to Biloxi, and then do a home/home with UAB or Samford where we play the road game at Regions Park.

Here's the problem- we still couldn't use them because the NCAA wouldn't allow us to put them on the 35 man roster.

I also agree with this about the four game weekends. We need to either do two four game weekends and then two three game series after that or three four game series and then either a three game series against a power five or a tournament or four three game series with as many Tuesday/Weds games the first four weeks as possible.
