I like Mangum as a relief Pitcher, but he is not starting pitcher material....I guess the thinking is maybe we can get 3-4 innings out of him, but it only takes one time thru the order to figure him out....he just doesn't have enough pitches.

I understand the reasoning. If you are going to use Mangum as a pitcher, which, with all of our injuries, we almost don't have much choice, the best chance to help the team is with him starting, even if he only goes a couple of innings. If you use him as a "situational" pitcher, the instant he comes in to pitch, you lose the DH, and you will then be pretty much forced to change pitchers every time that spot comes up in the batting order. But if you are willing to go with Mangum, knowing you may only get a couple of innings, then you at least keep his bat in the lineup the entire game.

A guy who is as valuable offensively as he is has to either start or close so you don't have to risk losing his bat . Mangum isn't good enough to close yet. He needs to be a little better to keep starting, though.

Only way to pitch him is start him. And then I think it should be midweek to save pitching.

I like them pitching him and starting him against Tennessee. They suck against LHP.

This may be unpopular but we need to get Billingsley back and have him start on Sunday and give us 2-3 IP and then turn it over to the bullpen.
