This is my first "runs created" update of the year. Normally I would have one a little earlier, but our poor performance and poor hitting has left me disinterested/discouraged. Either way, here is this season's up-to-date (minus the USM game) sabermetrics stats. First, here is a link to the last one I did from last year. There is an explanation to a lot of this below the chart for those who may not understand what they're looking at, but who are interested. Ignore all that if you already know what these stats are.
Before I say anything negative, Brent Rooker deserves praise. He leads us in just about every offensive stat, and he's not just good compared to the rest of this team. I believe he is out pacing every hitter we've had the last couple of years. There are a couple of guys who aren't doing bad, like Gridley and Mangum, but most of this team has just sucked at hitting this year. None of this needs to be explained, but the numbers just further beat this horse.

Color highlighting is just to help with visual to highlight the best and worst in each category since sorting isn't available. This is simply my opinion of good and bad things that deserve to be highlighted. Dark green is best, dark red is worst.
RC (Runs Created) - This is the single best indicator (in my and many others opinion) in determining how valuable a player has been based on what they've done. Specifically, this stat estimates the number of runs a hitter contributes to his team. This is a very complex formula, and is probably the #1 stat used in sabermetrics in some form or another. I use the advanced formula for RC in this breakdown, which takes into account many more stats than the basic formula.
(RC/PA)*4 - This is Runs Created divided by Plate Appearances times 4. This turns RC into an average so players can be compared equally regardless of how much they've played. It's divided by 4 to give an estimated view of how many runs they create per game. I came up with this, just for comparisons sake. In other words, based on the stats above, for every 4 plate appearances Rooker has contributed 1.27 runs to the team, while Skelton has only contributed 0.11 runs in every 4 appearances to the team.
OPS - On Base % plus Slugging %
BABIP - Batting average on balls in play. This is another sabermetric stat. This stat measures how many of a batter's balls in play go for hits, excluding home runs. It is a good tool for measuring the sustainability of a hitter's performance, as a very high or very low babip is hard to maintain.
TB - Total bases
HBP+BB - Hit by pitch + walks
CS - Caught Stealing
Sac - Sacrifice Hits
GDP - Ground into Double Play
