Is headed to Tuscaloosa to be an offensive analyst. I don't know much about him other than he coached for OM. What are your thoughts on his heading to BAMA? Also, what's his involvement if any regarding the NCAA investigation?

Kinda surprised. I would've thought Nick would stay as far away as possible from anything even remotely close to the OM situation.

Why would you not ask an Ole Miss board?

I don't read OM boards, and OM fans aren't exactly honest and rational. Does it offend you that i asked? Not to be a smart ass but OM is a popular topic of discussion here just like little brother is on BAMA boards. We talk about and know our rivals well. That's what football fans do.

Seems like Nick is into coach rehabilitation these days or something like that. Does he use the 12-step approach to rehabilitation? ***

Maybe this move is the beginning of the much anticipated spiral downward for our Bammer brethren *****

See. This proves we're not getting hit hard. No way Saban hires him otherwise.

Leo was NOT the only one to get immunity.... Know of several more.....

I guess we can look at Sabin hiring him like this..... Either Werner comes clean IF the NCAA comes calling about OM or loses his job at BAMA....

Good hire. Surprised he left Oxford area because of his child. Coached against him when he was at N Delta.
But I was surprised he went back to the college ranks after he told me how happy he was in HS and out of the pressure of college football.

I think being a football analyst at Alabama is probably a pretty cushy job. He's around the game still but he doesn't have to recruit, pressure is probably pretty low even though it's Saban, and I imagine it pays as much or more than a typical high school job.

Werner was also the guy that Barney replaced because he wasn't into recruiting. I think he was named in the NOA but I wouldn't be surprised if he escapes the show cause group.

Don't be surprised, Alabama cheating is on par and even greater than om's in some respects. People think it's tradition and they love hiding behind that curtain but no, they are waaaay ahead of the times dollar, escort and Ferrari wise than any other program in the country.

Saban just isn't dumb enough to flaunt it like Swaggart.

of course we have to cheat as much or more than everyone else... our campus isn't beautiful... and we've no football history to speak of, either....

It goes far deeper than that at Alabama. At Alabama players are "taken care of" for life. If they don't go to the NFL, the Red Elephant Club will set them up with a cushy job somewhere. Often a do nothing job within the state government. Their children will attend Alabama for free.

Where do you think your football history derived from?? Kudos to Bama for being the on the cutting edge of illegally compensating football players while others schools were focusing on academics. It may sound like I'm bitching but I accepted this facts many years ago. Apparently TSUN didn't hence we are waiting on the "hammer to fall" (in my best Freddie Mercury voice)

I just talked to a few dark lords within the REC and it is confirmed....we hired Werner strictly to buy players since Saban and Alabama suck at recruiting.

Or maybe Saban's trying to figure out how to get God to be a Bama fan instead of an Ole Miss fan.

Couple of things to address in this thread:

1. Hiring Werner to that job is a good move by Saban. The guy is a good offensive mind
2. Werner is not named in any NCAA violations
3. **** yeah Alabama cheats. They were paying 200K for defensive linemen 20 years ago. But- the difference between them, LSU, Georgia, etc is that they dont pay recruits to visit or commit. Their cheating history has already been built and has been in place for decades. Its not about envelopes or backpacks with cash with the big boys. They employ the parents of recruits to work for Alabama grads. Pay them well so they can have the things they need or desire. The pitch is "once you are in the Alabama family- you are Bama for life".

You get popped by the NCAA for paying recruits to cancel visits to other schools, paying for visits, paying for commitments, moving entire families to Oxford to live in a house worth 3 times what their previous house was....not by taking care of players well once they hit campus.

No one won an "AP Title" before Bear arrived at Alabama in '31...

Prior to the AP Poll (1936), Bama won 4 NCs under Wallace Wade (25, 26, 30)and Frank Thomas (34)....

Bammer Football was a "big deal" waaaaay before Bryant returned to coach in '58...

Those rankings were made by the Ladies Home Journal. Kind of like TSUN's mythical championships.
