it happens to almost every team in every conference because it's baseball and all it takes is a pitcher to get hot or well hit balls right at people and you can lose to anyone.

The 1927 New York Yankees season was their 25th season. The team finished with a record of 110–44, winning their fifth pennant and finishing 19 games ahead of the Philadelphia Athletics and were tied for first or better for the whole season.[1] New York was managed by Miller Huggins. The Yankees played at Yankee Stadium. In the World Series, they swept the Pittsburgh Pirates. This Yankee team is known for their feared lineup, which was nicknamed "Murderers' Row". This team is widely considered to be the best baseball team in the history of MLB.

What does it say about our program when the SEC is "down" a little this year and we're looking like we might be one of the worst in a "down" SEC? You guys really aren't helping our case. Bottom line is that we aren't liking to be very good for 2 years unless we bring in some stud jucos (along with great HS guys) that can get it done.

The SEC isn't down this year, nor was it any of the other years we've had this thread. #thatsbaseball

Comparing all of the past two years to this year to date, it seems like the conference is on track for more non-conference losses this year. Teams that are usually near the top of the conference standings are in bold. These teams haven't been performing as well this year.

Non-Conference Losses (excluding NCAA tournament/CWS)
Team - All 2015 - All 2016 - Thru 3/9/2017
Bama* - 7 - 6 - 4
UPig - 8 - 6 - 3
AUB* - 5 - 11 - 4
Florida - 4 - 1 - 4
UGA - 9 - 9 - 6
UK - 9 - 8 - 6
LSU - 1 - 6 - 4
Mizzou - 11 - 6 - 1
MSU* - 7 - 5 - 6
TSUN* - 9 - 3 - 5
SCar - 7 - 4 - 5
Tenn - 6 - 6 - 1
TAMU - 0 - 3 - 3
Vandy - 7 - 3 - 5
Average - 6.7 - 7.7 - 3.7

Based on what I've seen so far, I completely expect MSU, Florida, UGA, UK, the black bears, Vandy and TAMU to have more non-NCAA tourney non-conference losses to come. It does seem like the SEC isn't as good relative to other conferences so far when compared to recent years.

*non-conference games against fellow SEC teams were excluded from this list.
