I was thinking about all of this back and forth on the tape and the Spirits stance of the validity of it.

First, most rational people should have a hard time believing that the Ole Miss admin would share this tape with 2 homer recruiting reporters, unless they wanted it to float out there. But, why actually play the tape for them? Seems stupid, but it is Ole Miss.

The more I think about it, my money says that Yancy and Chuck are either the middle men in this soap opera or they recorded a conversation and turned it over to ole miss.

Can you imagine the scrutiny if OM handed a tape over to the NCAA that their Scout website operators obtained? Hmmmmm:cool:

Maybe the Leo thing was a set up by NCAA and that's why the NCAA is not listening to it. But more then what you said, Ole Miss just shot themselves in the foot for here on out in recruiting. There will be no trust among recruits. Biggest blunder by ole miss during this entire ordeal.

Yep, now any recruit on the take will be VERY hesitant to give OM the time of day. And I'm not convinced they normally recruit that many top level guys who aren't looking for something way more than a scholarship.

The funny thing is, this is their best defense, a tape claiming a rival school offered a recruit money, is their best defense against their own 20+ allegations.

Let's say that the tape is true and Leo's mom says we offered money:

1. One untraceable, unverifiable, obviously set up tape recording will not warrant a violation. When OM's full NOA comes out, go read it, there will be atleast 50 supporting pieces of evidence for each violation. One recording does not equal a violation, multiple confirmed pieces of evidence does. Hell, Cecil Newton admitted to asking for money from Auburn and MSU, but said that he never got any and Cam didn't know about it. Neither Auburn, Cam or MSU were punished. They don't publish an allegation without a page plus full of separate supporting pieces of evidence.

2. It does not change the fact that Ole Miss still cheated. It doesn't make Ole Miss any less guilty. You think the NCAA is gonna give OM brownie points for secretly taping a conversation between a coach and a recruit's mother? Hell no. If OM's best defense against their allegations is "M$U cheats too!!!", well than good luck.

This is so full of win. This MIGHT be an NCAA sting

pretty sure a tape exists... at least that's what steve r said but its not really incriminating... just a bunch of immaterial figures. what matters is the name that was printed on the check that they cashed... heck them dumb facks (TSUN) probably have a bank account setup and on the checks its got a rebel and the name on the account is Ole Miss Network

The tape actually does more damage to another SEC then us. That much I do know.

Trying to take down other SEC schools with a tape (who uses tapes anymore), a coach and AD who do not accept their responsibility, boosters who are still actively breaking rules, 15 level one violations and the possibility of getting the death penalty might just be enough to get Greg Sankey to put OM expulsion on the agenda.

Their delusion and defiance is beginning to damage the SEC brand.
