OM's Croom for the next 8-10 years? Not a knock on Croom as off the field I appreciated him and he seemed generally likable. But, head coach material he was not. I personally see absolutely no way Hugh survives this so they will more than likely be replacing him. Who would possibly think of taking the job? I don't really think they can even make a hire that resembles Croom. At least there were a few positives with Croom.

Croom as a head coach should be everyone's penalty.

Tommy Tubervile is my guess...would be the best they could hope for.

Promote from within? Maybe? No one from the outside looking in would want the job, IMO. OR, does the administration clean house and go after an "up and comer/no-name" who wants to get his foot in the door no matter the circumstances?

Old saying goes... "If you're worried about getting bad apples, don't go to the barrel; pick from the tree"

Apparently nobody. Finebaum and some formrr ncaa clown said that man beavers future would rest with how he did on the field. He also just threatned MSU with retribution per an Ole Miss high ranker.

Perfect opening for Joey Freshwater to return to the SEC after a year at sea

I doubt the NCAA would listen to anything Freeze says about any other school.

Could be, but I don't think he'd be accepted by the fan base after the antics he pulled when he left. But, he's a pretty good coach so hopefully he won't be. Somebody like him, at the end of their career or already retired, may be the only one who would go though.

I'm sure there are plenty of other high school girls basketball coaches willing to come in and turn a blind eye. Hell they need not look much further than their own women's BBall team to fill out the head football coaching vacancy and half of their OLIne.

OM hiring anyone connected to the program in the past 15 years would likely be suspicious to the NCAA and watched extra closely. Even Cutcliffe had David Saunders (currently serving an 8-year show cause) as his recruiting coordinator from 1998-2002, so OM's past four coaching regimes are tainted.

They really do need a Croom. A total outsider with zero history of NCAA infractions.

This why they're paying Wes NcGriff 1M to be DC. Perfect fit, career assistant, black, looking to get ahead, sounds like a Croom clone to me.

Right. He the "interim in waiting" for next year. Then they go from there.

McGriff was at OM from 2012 through signing day 2013 and helped OM sign Robert Nkemdiche, Tony Connor, and Lavon Hooks in 2013. He's dirty, OM better not promote him to head coach or they'll get the death penalty for sure.

They should hire UAB's head coach. He has experience bringing a program back from a death penalty like situation.***
