Pats are the early favorite at 5:1.

Not to shabby for a team with a TE at QB to be the NFC favorite at this time.

Saints will be back in playoffs. Not ready to say super bowl, but definitely in playoffs.

Pats are probably sweating someone retiring this year. If Big D can get some D help and one more long threat at WR then they should be the favorite.

How much salary cap room would dumping romo give Dallas? I know not his whole salary, but some of it at least.

Brees doesn't have the arm to bring the Saints back to playoffs. He struggled this year to push the ball downfield. Defenses were allowed to pack the box and keep DB's up to stop run.

Nfl total offense -- saints #1
NFL passing offense -- saints #1
NFL pts/game -- saints #2

NFL total defense -- saints #27
NFL pts/game allowed -- saints #31

I expect rankins and breaux entering next season healthy, more defensive draft picks, and mike Nolan at LB coach to make a huge difference with the defense

These stats don't prove his arm isn't fading. He can still hit the short passes pretty well but when he gets into tie ontermieiate to deep throws he doesn't have the same zip as before can't keep defenses honest like he used to.

Plus you rack up a ton of yards playing from behind and opposing teams in prevent.

Nope

Not as crazy as it sounds. The saints lost to Oakland on last play of game. They lost NYG, Carolina, and Denver games on blocked FGs/extra points... flip 2 of those 4 losses into wins and the saints were in the playoffs this year.

Lutz will be better next season. Breaux and rankins healthy, along with #11 defensive pick will help a ton on defense. We replaced the worst LB coach in the NFL with a very good one in Nolan

Doesnt explain #2 in NFL in pts/game

Romo is scheduled to count $24.7 million against the 2017 cap, it’s already earmarked. That includes his base salary of $14 million, which would be traded away, and his prorated signing/restructure bonuses that count for another $10.7 million. That would stay with the Cowboys after a trade. What also would stay with the Cowboys are the prorated bonus amounts for 2018 and 2019. Those total an additional $8.9 million.
This means Romo has $19.6 million remaining of unamortized signing bonus. If he is traded or retires, that would accelerate onto the 2017 ledger, meaning the Cowboys would save $5.1 million of space on next year’s cap from what they are “expected” to carry currently.

The cowboys have the option to renegotiate and move around bonus money to the back end to clean up space for this years cap.
Which they will have to do because as of NOW they are 10mil OVER the cap... but that's normal for Jerry.
This article explains how a change in 4 contracts could change that to 20mil of cap space.

They really need to draft on defense. They are good on offense. They need a bad ass pass rusher and some help in the secondary. If they take care of those two issues, they should be the favorite next year.
