Yeah, it's pretty obvious that Mullen wants a 180 from Sirmon's calm cerebral coaching. He's hired guys that the players will have keep on the sidelines when arguing with refs. I love it! That's MSU Defense!

After reading more about him I like this hire. He's done very well as a position coach and a D.C. but got sacked as a HC for going in raw on his players. So we are getting an overqualified position coach on the cheap because he has to repair his career.

I like that he once led his league in 3rd down defense. Our safeties need the passion and the understanding that English should be able to bring and he should be a good addition to the coaching meetings. My only concern is how good is he recruiting and what area will he cover?

He took the job so obviously he thought he could do something with it. I hope he comes here and produces a couple of all American safeties and then I won't mind if he moves on to become a DC or head coach again.

No one knows for sure. Not official but most likely.

The tricky thing about that is we have to wait for the NCAA to approve it which won't happen for a couple of months. Meaning if we hire someone and it doesn't get approved we're going to be burned. I suspect we will hire Tony Grantham and not hire a QB coach. I hope we bring in another o-line coach and reassign Hevesy's job title once it gets approved.
