Doesn't seem like that can be taken multiple ways, but I'm curious of the context. I'm pretty sure I remember Brewster being complimentary of us since he's left, and I thought I'd seen tweets cheering for us in several games.

Man, that is about the most unprofessional thing I believe I have ever heard. For one, didn't we give him a job to get BACK into the college coaching ranks?

Well considering it was a tweet, you didn't have to go to SDS.

This. SDS is nothing but a shit stirrer. They got Dillon Day suspended for a game when they decided to selectively slow down footage and publish an article about the "stomp". Brewster is a recruiting specialist, and even he likely had a hard time recruiting here due to our numerous disadvantages. As an above poster said, he's been nothing but complimentary of us in the past.

You have to view anything from the Orlando Sentinel with a skeptical eye. Some idiot writer there has repeatedly called for UCF and USF to replace OM and MSU in the SEC.

Well Brewster, Mullen rescued you from unemployment after you failed miserably as a HC and I do mean miserably... 15-30 overall 6-21 in big 10

That is likely what he is referencing but it is still a low blow and very unprofessional. You don't burn a previous employer like that in public regardless of your experience there.

I'm sorry but I'm not giving SDS any clicks. I decided several years ago that they would get any of my support after I realized that they would ALWAYS step on MSU at the expense of propping up the other SEC schools, and this was when Dak was leading us in 2014 and 2015.

They don't need any MSU support, much like the CL.

Actually he hasn't. Rose bowl had some pretty negative things to say about Brewster when he left regarding his time here and now we can see why. Brewster is a cock sucker and what he just said regarding our school is bullshit. Don't be a cuckold.

Hey Timmy..
How about showing some balls and try and get a head job again. Apparently Minnesota was WAY over your head.
Not many ex Power 5 head coaches out there who are going on 7 years as a ****ing WR coach. Congrats on your success.

Exactly, very classless. And either he said it or he didn't, I don't care who is reporting it. Sounds like he tweeted it so its stupid to blame SDS for bringing it up.

He may not have meant for it to come across the way it did, but regardless, that's what he said. Really dumb thing to say, but it's pretty much par for the course for him.

He also made the comment, "I love the people of Mississippi, but I love stealing their players even better". I hope that rubs some high school coaches in the state the wrong way. Screw that guy.

One possibility for Brewster saying that was in response to Mullen saying that he believed Kylin Hill was one of the top RBs in the country, certainly the best in the state of Mississippi. Maybe he thought that was a shot at Cam. I took it as Mullen talking up Kylin, not taking a shot at Cam.

Even if Mullen really was explicitly saying that Hill is better than Akers, it's still an extremely dumb thing to say from Brewster. Just say that Cam Akers is the best RB in the country, don't say you got saved from Mississippi State.

This was apparently said at a fan event, which is usually where coaches say super dumb things.

Well, I'm glad the only guy he got this year was someone we weren't even in the running for.

The issue with saying that about Akers is that nobody really knows how good of a RB Akers is because he didn't play it in HS. He certainly has the athletic ingredients to be a great RB but it will be new to him. Mullen could easily say Hill was the best RB in the state because technically he had no competition in that category from Akers.

And Brewster can say Akers is the best RB in the country because he can say whatever he wants. Just like Mullen will say that the guys we got were the top guys on our board every year.

I'm just saying, if you're ticked about Mullen saying that (which would be dumb to begin with), then you respond in kind; you don't then come back and blast the school.

Mullen went out of his way to say that Kylin Hill was the best RB in Mississippi (because he loves his players and wants to boost them up, unlike another coach in this state who blames the players who trusted him with their futures for his own personal failures), and Brewster took offense and decided to handle it like a child. Fact is: Brewster was a failed head coach and is nothing more than a career POSITION coach who doesn't even have what it takes to be a legit coordinator. He flings dung at the man and program that resuscitated his already mediocre career. Thanks for Fred Ross, Brew. But I'll always associate you with the 2012 football season and the nightmare that was.

I don't think Brewster should get a ton of credit for Ross. I think Gray was the primary guy he brought in. Ross had relationships at State.

He says it was a joke, and it was probably intended as such because face it ... Starkville has been the brunt of jokes for many years on a national level ... just about every time a home game is on. I took it as more a criticism of the town of Starkville than of the University or Dan.

Still a stupid thing to say. He said he was 'saved from Mississippi State' on signing day after signing a great class. Pretty clear shot at our football program, whether it was a joke or not.

Still, it hurts because deep down, we know there's truth in it.

There's a lot worse places to be saved from than MSU in today's football climate. That man can suck a bag of
