Did you really not understand my post? I was giving him a compliment on his play today. I said he has too much potential to ONLY SETTLE for 3's all game. I wasn't saying he was only settling for 3's TODAY. Kegler is doing exactly what I said he needs to do to be a more effective player for us. I said this shit 2 weeks ago. I also said it's FINE if he shoots 3's as long as he is focusing more on playing inside the 3point line. Smoot you just start shit with me to start shit. It's tired
You said he's starting to get it, as though he's changed what he does. He hasn't. He was playing well when you posted your initial thoughts, and he's still playing well.

My gosh. You still don't believe we are talented do you?
Yes, as I have said repeatedly we are very talented outside. It's hard to tell inside yet. They are ALL raw as heck. You totally misunderstand my basketball posts. I always talk about things as I see them for that game. Today we played well, and we shot 50% beyond the arc. If we do that we can beat nearly everyone we play. MOST teams can say that.
Here is where I think we are as a program. We have great coaching. We have young but very, very talented outside guys. The jury is still out on the inside guys. They may be very talented, they may not be. It takes longer to tell with them. We are most definitely headed in the right direction but we aren't there yet, not even close.

Not playing the "Use the Perfect Wording" game with ya today Smoot. Rather just enjoy our win over LSU. Hail State

Everything works better for this team when the threes fall. We shot 50% on the threes. The effort was much better.
A great effort and win today, no doubt. With that said, LSU is one of the worst defensive teams in the league and not nearly as physical as Alabama and try to win more on the offensive end. Those type teams we are set up much better right now to match up with. Not trying to put any damper on the very good road win today but we are still going to have to figure out a way to play against teams that are more defensive minded and want to play a physical style.

Howland said we are going to go with today's starting lineup moving forward which I like. Holman is def more comfortable at the 4 and Keglar is more comfortable at the 3. It also gives us a good rebounder at the 2 with Q. And Peters at 190 gives us a scorer and a more physical presence at the point.
I think Carter is the guy that's going to have to sacrifice minutes.

Leave Peters as the starting PG and we have a mismatch in our favor at almost all 5 spots most nights

I know, I'm not criticizing the way he played. I'm saying Dawg61 doesn't know what he's talking about.
And I was wrong, he took more 3's than normal today. 5 of his 7 shots, made no 2's.
Not that this wasn't obvious before.

Ha I know more about this program and what's going on inside of it and football in general then you do about the Famous Maroon Band. Hell I'll say I'll know more about what's going inside the baseball program then you.
When Random knew the stuff about Quay, he was getting it from me. And I know A LOT more about recruiting in this state then you do.
You really wish we would've taken a Wil Freeman? I expect nothing less of you. You still think we should've taken Sam Craft, Julius Hodges, Red from Mendenhall, Allen Lamar, Minshew, and probably even Brady Davis. You don't know what the hell you're talking about. Because Wil will even tell you he got lucky. He didn't play 1/3 of the snaps on defense and our "crappy OL" let him up for two straight years. Trust me on that.
Mix was getting blown up by a SOPHMORE Fletcher Adams. At that time he wasn't an All-American. You are probably still "getting a hard" on for Devon too. He was a 4* and all but was the worse OL we've had over the past 15 years. But you always stood up for him. Why? Because he went to MC and was a 4* recruit.
You probably don't know that by Bama paying up more for Lashley, Knott, and Davis it allowed us to get Simmons. Oh and to your point about Cristobal practicing him at OT; weren't you one of the ones bitching about Hevesy doing this for our guys? Yeah you were. But Lashley is a guard all the way and is playing there because his footwork isn't good enough to play tackle. It wasn't even good enough to play LT at WEST POINT.
The problem with our OL is that most of these guys don't know how to block in a zone scheme. Outside of a select few 6A schools, no one runs them. Which in turns makes them think more instead of playing mean. OL play isn't as easy as just getting up and going through the steps. You have to learn the scheme and steps. Then learn how to watch film and prepare. I compare that to Coach Mo telling TBuck "Take Peters, I can't do anything with him. He can't pick up the scheme." Players in MS don't know schemes. It's line up and play backyard football.
Get back to Hevesy, I've camped for the guy. Yeah he's a hard ass. I would rather my coach be a dick to me and stay on my ass then someone telling me how great I am and in return makes me work not as hard. You think Cristobal is soft on his guys? Damn fool. You think Saban is soft? Let me tell you at his NSAAFC in '11; the guy dropped the F Bomb 6-7 times in front of recruits mom's. But you don't hear about that. Hell, you probably would've taken your kid away.
Gosh, you better thank your Uncle for giving you his insight on baseball so you can run and post it to look like you know what the hell you're talking about.

Youth takes time. This bunch will be really good one day. When you have as many freshman we have, it's a big learning curve.
Today was a good step up.
The light definitely moved up from a flicker to a dim glow. Hopefully it doesn't go back to a flicker like It Was against Bama, and continues to a full bright glow through the end of the year. Today's team can beat any team in the SEC (UK, Ark, and USCe would all have to play less than their best).

Not as mad as you were about Howland after the Alabama game, Bro.
You might also want to read my retort or choose a post from a poster that doesn't have four paragraphs of bullshit that is wrong in it.
But hey-it's not like we're starting a bunch of freshmen and sophomores or anything. It's hilarious that it took all of four days for you to look like a complete moron. I don't claim to know a lot about basketball- but even I have the common sense to know that a team that young is a recipe for inconsistent play and that a coach like Howland is going to most likely turn it around in short order. But you be you and clog up your hard drive with gifs.

It's gonna be up and down, they will get better but like I said 8 freshman on your squad means you are practicing against youth as well. What I like is Howland plays a lot of guys, this year they are getting a lot thrown at them. The future looks really good, plus Howland is showing patience but yet he will discipline when needed.

Yea you mad haha guess you didn't hear Howland screaming today not sure how you could miss it it was very audible on tv. Didn't hear that last game. What'd I say for Howland to do? Get on their asses. What did he do today? Got on their asses.
Enough with you Todd for anyone else that would like to enjoy some Tiger misery here you go...

You really believe that the reason we won because you could hear Howland yelling at our guys? That's absurd. I guess all we have to do to beat Kentucky is yell so that you can hear it on your TV in your trailer in your ghetto.

When is Howland going to get pissed off and start actually coaching these players? I have yet to see him yell or raise his voice in anger once since he arrived. Take off the kid gloves and stop walking on eggshells. Howland trying to be nice and on his best behavior all the time is what's wrong with this team right now. I don't want nice Howland. I want pissed off Howland. Haven't seen that guy once. Has he had a single technical foul called on himself since arriving? Just having to ask that means it's a PROBLEM. Kentucky wouldn't have nearly the same success with all their freshman every year if Calipari was scared to light their asses up and scared to yell at the 17ing refs. There is such a thing as being too nice.

Everything works better for this team when the threes fall. We shot 50% on the threes. The effort was much better.
While I agree with you to a certain extent I also think you over simplify the game of basketball. We had better looks from 3 due to being more deliberate in attacking the basket. Thus our 3s were open and within the flow of the offense.
Yes, the ability to shoot the 3 is one of this teams best tools. It is also a crutch at times when they don't attack the basket and settle for lazy 3s. We didn't win because we hit 50% from 3. That is an over simplification and really a slap in the face to the players. We won because we attacked the rim, were patient and got solid looks from 3 as a result. We only shot 22 3s, it's not like we were going down every possession jacking up shots like the bearsharts.
This was a very solid performance. We attacked inside then out today instead of camping out behind the arc settling for lazy 3s.

To put this in simple terms, this team just corrected a lot of mistakes they made in the previous game, and hopefully they will correct the mistakes they made in the LSU game in the next one and so on.
Thats what development is all about with a young team.
PS: the SEC network guys were really complimentary of our team and its future.

Are we on the replace Howland train now? I need to know how I'm suppose to feel about a win....

Nah nobody wants Howland fired. Todd just got clowned on by BankerDog in another thread and I laughed about it so he posted in this thread last night trying to start a fight with me. Probably had some liquid courage in him. I aint hatin I am honored to be his avenue of frustration. Todd is a good poster besides his wall of texts, weird bromance obsession with C34 and urge to respond to every single baseball thread/post like he invented the game. Outside of that excellent poster. I am glad he is on this board and that he's a big boy and can handle me busting his balls some. Right Todd?

Hey IYOK, I thought Kegler did a pretty good job yesterday starting at the small forward. Next year our starting five should be:
PG - Peters
SG - Weatherspoon
SF - Kegler
PF - Holman
C - Ado or Herard (depending on Herard's development)
We would also have one of the best benches in the SEC and I don't think there would be a front court out there that could compete with our size. Even Howland mentioned that this type of lineup is better because everyone is playing their best position and not out of position defending wise. I like Howland's thinking there. He is a bad ass coach and I think the lineup we had yesterday along with playing 10 guys will give us a great chance to finish this year strong and build on for next year.
