I think Bama is a pretty good litmus test for us entering the conference season. I think Bama is a team that will probably finish something like 7-11 or 8-10 in conference. I may be overestimating them a tad, but I think if we look pretty good and win, then you can start thinking about us being at least a .500 team in conference.

I saw Bama play a couple weeks ago in Huntsville against Western KY. Bama is not a good team. It was such an ugly game. They have a couple big guys who are good at blocking shots and rebounding....that's about all they've got. They were not good at contesting the outside shots. They would have lost but Western Ky had no shooters.

If we don't win this game at home then I'm majorly concerned about our team.

Here's the problem. We didn't challenge ourselves in the non-conference AT ALL so we really don't know what we've got.

The highest ranked RPI team we played was UCF (60) and they hammered us.

Bama is 108. I've watched them and they aren't very good, but they play hard on defense. They also went out and played some tough teams so they will be more battle tested than us.

It's a winnable game if we are hot, but we have to have everyone crashing the boards. Line is about right, though I would have Bama -1.

Come on man. With some semblance of an inside game we don't have to jack up all those threes, and the ones we DO jack up will be better shots. It's hard to be consistent when you HAVE to live and die from outside. It would also stop the defense from getting abused in the paint.

There are a lot of teams that will beat the shit out of this Alabama team that won't have an inside game. I thought Herard did a serviceable job and made his free throws. We nearly fouled out all of their big men. When Alabama made their runs in both the first and second halves it had to do with our defense not getting back in transition and they got easy layups. That had nothing to do with an inside game. Holman and Kegler have to play better then the shit show they put up tonight though.

Their big guys are not very skilled but they just overwhelmed us down low with aggressiveness and physicality. Its extremely defeating. Agreed, but we were favored by a whopping 1.5 points. It was basically a tossup. You can keep calling Alabama a bad team all you want, but the entire SEC is comprised of bad teams. Their record is only worse than ours because they have played a much tougher schedule.

And we had at least three of their big guys with 4 fouls but stopped going at them for some reason. We should have driven to the basket and lived at the free throw line mainly Holman and Kegler. A real shit effort by those two tonight btw.

Thats about right. Nothing went right for us and we went against a team that was a bad matchup for us (tough peeimeter D and strong inside presence). Those two things usually add up to a loss.
