What's sad is that Jimbo was never leaving Fla State for LSU. Wasn't even considered

What's sad is we could of hired him instead of Croom....

Yea, wow, may be one of the single worst athletic screw ups we have had. I really don't like thinking about it and it gets brought up on this board fairly often haha.

Let's not forget that Florida State recruits itself and will elevate the perception of any coach they choose. Jimbo at state might have similar, at best, results as Mullen has. We compete every other bordering SEC team (who have much more history) for recruits plus the other big names schools from
Oklahoma east over to Louisville/Clemson and then south. We rarely win these battles and hardly accumulate the talent needed to compete for championships every year. The FSU's of the college football world should always have enough talent to make the playoffs. No excuse. That would make even C34 look like the next Vince Lombardi. Shit, even look at LSU. They had so much talent oozing out of Baton Rouge, they won a ton of games despite their incompetent head coach.

Mullen results > Croom results. So I would have taken that at the time.

No doubt but during that time our recruiting was somewhat hamstrung due to the NCAA nose poking.

ETA and penalties were lessened for hiring Slytanic. Any other coach would've had hands tied more during recruiting.

Do you want to be reminded We could of had Steve Spurrier also?
Who screwed up both of those hires?

and he still got his name on a building on campus some how.
