Thread warning!

This thread contains information pertaining to a head coach NOT at Miss. State. The information within is the sole thoughts of the poster and in no way is affiliated with EliteDawgs, its owners, moderators, or inbreds who read thusly named board. It in no way is meant to portray the posters thoughts towards MSU's current head coach Dan Mullen. Said poster in fact is fully supportive of the current head coach and stands behind him 100 percent. The thoughts below are derived from information obtained during the past season when things weren't looking too good for the home team.

Back in late Oct. when we were sucking hind tit I started researching coaching candidates just in case we needed one at the end of the season. Tulsa coach Phillip Montgomery was one of those I added to my list because of his resume.

I add this post today as Montgomery's current team Toledo is playing a bowl game as I type this.

Current Resume;

Head coach at Tulsa 45 years old
Salary $800,000

Born in Texas, played at Tarlenton St.
Spent 8 years in Texas high school system
2 years at Houston as QB/RB coach
3 years at Houston as Co-OC/QB/RB
4 years at Baylor as Co-OC/QB/RB
3 years at Baylor as OC/QB
2 years at Tulsa. Went 6-7 his first season
Currently 9-3 in his 2nd season (Losses to Ohio St., Houston, Navy)
Team currently ranked #4 in nation in total offense 529 yards per game.

Final totals for today

55 points
581 yards 320 passing/261 rushing

Finished the year 10-3

As an AD, you have to put this name on your list and put it in your back pocket and keep up with. One day you might have to look at that list.

I think Montgomery is a good coach. His defensive staff would need to be upgraded for me to want to hire him.

Bdork may find this advice useful....should there be a vacancy up north after the investigation concludes. Personally I prefer they keep the beaver as their head coach. He really isn't that good of a coach and for some strange reason his magnificent ability to recruit top talent seems to have disappeared.

Kevin Kolb
Case Keenum
Robert Griffin III
Bryce Petty
and now Dane Evans

5 completely different styles of QB. Not a lot in common other than putting up monster numbers and winning, but the common link is Philip Montgomery

Tulsa put up over 3,000 passing yards (including 2 1000+ receivers) AND 3,000 rushing yards (including both 1600 and 1400 yard rushers)
