Bill Belichik - Multiple superbowls. Absolutely the guy that can beat you with his players, then trade players and beat you with your players.

I don't think Bill Walsh or Chuck Noll ever lost one, and they have more. Bilicheck has t be given legitimate consideration at this point too. He's 3 for 4.

Personally I'd go with Walsh, but I saw his games so I'm biased.

Belichek has lost 2 Super Bowls- he is 3-2. Shula was 2-3 in SB

Shula had a .678 winning %....Billy is at .655

Chuck Knoll ended up being fired- Walsh and DeBartolo fought and Walsh left. Walsh was only an NFL HC for 9 years

Don Shula was never fired unlike Knoll

Shula coached before modern free agency rules.

Billy coaches under the era of the NFL that is built to make pairity. Despite this, he still kicks ass.

And if Billy had a compliance department, he would know how to run it and it wouldn't be with Bracky.

Shula lost the 68 Super bowl to the Jets. Baltimore was the most dominant team in the NFL that year yet lost.

Per ESPN, it is Lombardi with Walsh at number two. Walsh is my personal favorite though because he was so intelligent and analytical as well as being a great teacher. He was ahead of his time with the way that he did things and he was also a great evaluator of talent. And he also preferred a mobile QB to run his offenses. But he had QB's that were also accurate as well. I like his theories on having balance in your offense and that every player is an extension of each other.

Walsh also has a PHD and his thesis was actually on defense and how to defend the pro-set. I believe that this was in the 60's. Walsh is obviously known for offense, but he was actually very well rounded in all facets of the game. Just a very fascinating person.

Lombardi, then Shula, then Walsh. In my opinion.

Shula is no doubt the best....coached in 6 super bowls which is more than anyone else....won more games than anyone else...only undefeated season....won in 2 different eras, completely changing his style of play to suit his personnel...coached 2 different teams to the super bowl.

Of course he is. He has a hotel named in honor of him. I mean, who gets a hotel named after them if they aren't the greatest coach?

May I add the list of best NFL assistant coaches does not include Sly Crxxm.

This is a tangent, but I've never understood why record in big games matters. Obviously the number of wins matter, but how is 3-0 in the Super Bowl better than 3-1? So you're telling me both won 3, but the other guy actually got there more?

It's not as though in non-Super Bowl seasons, the team didn't play. This just means that the year Belichick lost the Super Bowl, the comparative year Walsh didn't even get there. Seems to favor Belichick.
