View Full Version : Local press brutal recap of Treadwell's performance this year.

Dallas is thriving with a first-round rookie running back and a fourth-round rookie quarterback. Laquon Treadwell, the Vikings' top pick, had plenty of chances to make a play on Thursday, just as he did last week in Detroit. Neither he nor his team has much to show for it.

Eight Vikings caught passes Thursday night. Treadwell caught zero. He has been active for eight NFL games. He has made one catch, for 15 yards.

Thursday, Treadwell ran one particularly important route, down the left sideline near the goal line, and Bradford's pass flew behind him. We probably don't need to wait for the coaches to break down the film to guess who was in the wrong.

There were red flags when the Vikings used a first-round pick on a receiver whom they praised mostly for his blocking ability. There were red flags when he performed poorly in training camp. There have been red flares fired skyward by members of the organization frustrated by Treadwell's lax habits.

A fan has every right to question why the first-round pick isn?t helping a limited offensive team that has had injuries and other disappointments at receiver. Then the fan watches Treadwell play in an NFL game, and thinks, "Ah, I wouldn't have played him, either."

Treadwell has yet to display the speed or elusiveness to allow him to separate himself from defenders. He isn't a gifted sprinter or leaper. He will have to make his living making tough catches, but to make tough catches he'll have to run the right routes and earn the trust of his quarterback.

He has a long way to go and a short time to get there, if he's going to help this team this season.

So Mullen takes talent that no one else wanted and it makes all SEC and NFL players out of it while freeze takes top rated talent and makes them NFL busts but players and their families still choose OM over State? Okay, got it. ***

Think treadwell regrets going to om... let him be lazy and never taught him route running

Why can't everyone see how shitty that program is and why isn't the media publicizing it?

It's like playing football for the Little Giants up there. Daddy development.

Are any of those players in that vaunted class worth a fart in a noisemaker in the NFL?

Why any kid, no matter how talented he is, signs to play football at Ole Miss is beyond my ability to comprehend. When it comes to player development (especially QB's) Dan Mullen and his staff at MSU, get the job done. Further, Mullen's ability to identify raw talent and the develop it, is nothing short of spectacular.
Ole Miss? An all-world kid signs with them, then 3-4 years later is no better than he was the first day he arrived at Ole Miss. Ole Miss can certainly recruit, but when it comes to player development, they are a joke.

Tunsil is a pretty good guard.

Damn sure let him be lazy, just like the Flying Nigerian.

But hey, he is still Paidwell

Have read similar articles about Robert K and his wasted year with the Cardinals. Between the scouts missing on Dak and being in love with Paidwell and "little K", there must be some terrible scouts in the NFL.

Probably not, what other team could turn him into a 1st round pick with the bubble screen?

This is what happens when you only run go routes and bubble screens in college as a receiver.. he lacks plus speed and can't out physical NFL corners.. if he was a good route runner he could be a pretty decent possession receiver and help in the run game because he can block but a wr that can't get open and can't go get balls is a liability and a waste of a body on the field... derunya might actually have more understanding of route running and a route tree and that is saying something since he was still very raw when he decided to leave

True but they're paying him left tackle money. You can get a quality guard in the 3rd round for way less money. And his own coach said he lacks the footwork and technique to be a tackle right now.

A free agent from Minnesota State beat him out. Treadwell and the rest of the Om 1st rounders are approaching Ryan Leaf Bust levels
