In response to Charlie Melancon dismantling the incredibly important fish tagging program, Captain Devin at LA Fish Blog has started a petition to have him removed from office. Just another thing Melancon has done in a long laundry list of anti-recreational angler action. If you fish LA ever, it's definitely worth your time to read the petition.

Thank goodness GA has had a series of sensible DNR Commissioners - regardless of political party - over the years and we haven't had to put up with appointees who don't know jack and don't care to listen and learn. I worked closely with the last 3, and to a T - if you said "I have a concern about x and what it means for fishing/hunting/land management (or state parks or historic preservation which they also manage)they would listen and engage and normally ask you to participate in the process. You can't have people like Melancon running things.
