Question about 5A and 6A high school football.

Pearl just moved up to 6A and they are playing in their first state championship game in 30 years. Could it be that 5A is better than 6A?

Pearl used to play at the highest division so their just like Starkville in that realm. They're both 6A teams that have played down. Just like West point imo.

This is just Pearls best team in 30 years. Going to 6A has been tough on Pearl athletics overall. There one of the smallest 6A schools, with a little over 1200 students.

The top team in 5A might be the best team in the state, depending on the year. (Not speaking specifically of this year). The depth of 6A is tougher for sure.

This is a good point and has been the case on and off in different sports they the years. The last two years the best baseball team in the state has been in 5A...of course 6A had more "good" teams, and that depth can make it difficult. As for this year in football, West Point is in the championship and may be the best overall team in 5A but they lost handily to Starkville who didn't even make the playoffs...of course Starkville is in the toughest football district in the state.

Noxubee at 4-a has been as good as 90% of 6a schools for several Years.

Football as a whole is way down in MS. Need to eliminate 6A and go back to 5 classifications. MHSAA is sacrificing better football for more money. They suck ass!!!
