I don't recall his name being in the NOA or response. But, we haven't seen the 2nd letter yet, so anything is possible.

Why would firing Womack appease anyone in Indianapolis? It's much more likely that he's the one who has to fall on his sword to answer for their defense this year. I don't think that guy was even named in the NOA. His recruiting impact is next to zero. He was never the one they were after...

The man they really want is the head coach.

I thought he didn't recruit. Barney recruited for him.

Womack doesn't recruit, so I can't imagine he's the problem.

Looked like he wanted to leave with dignity. Freezes face told the story of what's to come.

Tom Allen was the Xs and Os genius of OM's defense. Since he's been gone the Dave Wommack of previous DC stints has shown up. This is the Wommack defense I remember from my USM days in the 90's. He was gawd awful as a DC.

Read the comments after the article about this on Redcup Rebellion. They blame him for the D. He has 38 years in coaching. They think that they can still get any asst coach they want even with "It Coming". One of the coaches they want to keep is Kiffin who will prob get a show cause. They still think de-nial is a river in Egypt.

There problem on defense is they haven't recruited linbackers for 4 years. They have no depth, they're soft as shit, and they depend on big plays. Like everything about ole miss, its gimmicky with no substance and not built to last.

Booger McFarland on the SEC recap show implied that there was more to it than just Wommack retiring. He didn't elaborate. Perhaps he simply meant he was not coming back due to the D's poor performance, but he could have been alluding to OM's Ncaa problems. Not sure.

He may just be tired of swimming in the filth. After 38 years he doesn't want his last years associated with the dirtiest bunch of coaches since SMU. Just a theory.
