Terrible news. He was one of my favorites and a Mississippi sports icon. I remember hearing him talk about Ted Williams and guys like that. I thin he was the first athlete in MSU history to ever get a full athletic scholarship in any sport and he played baseball and basketball for us.

He built Delta State into a baseball powerhouse too.

On a visit to Delta State some 17 years ago, one of the nicest fellas I've ever met. Made you feel important, even though I was talking to "the Boo Ferriss."

Truly a sad day! What a great man! Boo recruited me many many years ago and was such a wonderful man! We truly lost a great one today!
